Mohars, do you think you could grab a pic of those for me?
Thanks,

Here's another GH title to add to the lists:
vga and molnar, thanks, I've put in the updates.
There are those types of variations and also some of the cds different printing on them. I have that WWF Arcade with 2 different cds (very slight differences.)Originally Posted by BenT

I found a long-boxed copy of Romance of the III Kingdoms IV today. For Joe, or anybody else who's interested, email me and I'll get a picture for ya.

There is a PSX Game in Japan Aitakute in some long box. You may look at it here: http://page3.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/c23028869
I know this thread is old and all, but here's confirmation that a World Cup Golf longbox exists...

I apologize if this has already been confirmed, it's the first copy I've seen.
Tranferring from locked topic in 3...2....1....CLICK....(one of these days I'll start an original thread, probably by accident though).
First off, thanks to QoF for posting the text list in the locked thread...the list of the longbox PSX games I need has been transferred into my handheld. Second, does anybody have 'em all yet?
Third, of the 4 versions of this list if now found here and elsewhere, Dare Devil Derby appears in two and is not in the others...can anyone confirm if this title exists in longbox packaging?
At 77 longbox titles and counting...

Tomorrow's Past is Yesterday's Future Today!
I have 8. Got 6 today.
DOOM
Rayman
Cyberspeed
Return Fire
Street Fighter: The Movie
Magic Carpet (Have both versions.)
Loaded
Twisted Metal
I think I had mixed it up with Destruction Derby when I originally made the PSX list. I believe it's too new to have a longbox variation.Originally Posted by Goodwill Hunter

I assume the list on the first page is up to date?
I just got into collecting for the PSX. I mentioned the ones I got today and I hope to get more soon.
Anyone know which of the Long Box games had Normal sized cases later on? Not Greatest Hits, but actual normal releases that came out when production shifted from using the big boxes to the new standard jewel cases.
I have two "Magic Carpet's" that I got today. I bought the Jewel version at Game Stop then went over to the EB in the mall and found out there was a big boxed one. So I bought that one too. And I've decided to keep it. Which games came out like this?
I got 6 more today. 4 are still wrapped.
Resident Evil, Tekken, The Need for Speed, Revolution X, ESPN Extreme Games and Philosoma.
12 games now big boxed. Bought all the EB had.
Slowly working my way through the list. 93 to go I guess.
Did the jewel case one have a jewel-sized manual and inserts as well? Gamestop sometimes makes a photocopy of a game's cover and slides it in a jewel case when they are only selling the disc. (Never heard of a jewel case-sized Magic Carpet, so I was curious.)Originally Posted by Jasoco
As for your other question, games I've spotted in longbox and jewel case versions are:
Extreme Pinball
Resident Evil (seems to be a bit less common than the longbox version)
Romance of the Three Kingdoms
Fade to Black
Geom Cube
NBA Shootout '97
Theme Park
World Cup Golf Professional Edition
WWF In Your House

Don;t worry. I always check if it's a clear front if the slip is a manual or paper. I don't like papers and will pass.Originally Posted by Queen of the Felines
The Magic Carpet I got in a Jewel case is indeed legit. Full back insert and manual and everything. My Longbox version also has the manual and everything. Including the foam insert that was used to keep the disc in place. (Not that it does a good job.) I have a few Long Box games without manuals. Usually the ones that aren't oversized Jewel cases.
There are three different types of Big Box I have.
Oversized Jewel cases.
All plastic, most common. Saturn is mostly these as is Sega CD. But damn impossible to replace if broken.
The games I have like this are: ESPN Extreme Games, Tekken, Street Fighter: The Movie and Rayman. (All are complete. Tekken and ESPN are brand new.)
Plastic cases with cardboard overlays. (Ribbed for your pleasure.)
These open like the Jewel versions, but are plain black plastic with cardboard glued to the outside.
The games I have like this are: Twisted Metal, Return Fire, Resident Evil and Magic Carpet. (All have manuals except Twisted Metal.)
Completely cardboard boxes that open like books.
Cardboard boxes that open and close over themselves. Like an overbite or a box of Donuts. (Except without the window.) Sort of the cheapo way of making cases.
[i]The games I have like this are: Revolution X, The Need for Speed, Philosoma, Loaded, DOOM and Cyber Speed. (DOOM, Cyberspeed and Revolution X don't have manuals.)
Only ones i have are Panzer General and Raiden Project with the longbox's.
I saw a King's Field and Battle Arena the other day but didn't bother to get them at this time.

Question:
I see these at local Gamestops ALL THE TIME. I'm not a Sony collector and know little about the Sony systems (relatively speaking). Which of the longbox games are sought after? If someone can point me to a rarity list of longboxes, or something similar, I could probably pick up a few rares and help some longbox collectors out.
Seeking display quality copy of I Want My Mommy for the 2600... if you have one, PM me, I will pay/trade well.
Just pick them all up as you see them. Return the ones you don't need. I pick them up when I see them if the price is right. Even though I'll never have every single PSX game ever made, I can at least shoot for a goal of having just every Long Box.
The only longbox game I own is Extreme Pinball, which I bought many years ago for playing purposes rather than collecting. Seeing as how it was the only longbox game I ever owned, AND considering it was quite crappy, I made a sort of mental connection that the irregular box equalled bad quality games. That's probably not true, but just the idea probably stayed my hand a few times at Funcoland when decided which games to pick up.
