Just got this today and learning the controls. Pretty fun title, controls and camera do take getting used to. Glad I got this then Warrior Within..

i enjoyed it too, though its not overly difficult. warrior within is in the same vein, though seems a bit more challenging as far as fighting 'bosses'...at least so far
Yep, great game! Had to play through it
Right now stuck on wall jumping in the Prolouge.

I just read that they're making this game into a movie.
Out of curiosity, what console? I have it for the Gamecube, but I haven't started it yet. Gotta remedy that soon...
I got the PS2 edition.

my sister is currently playing through the ps2 version. i got into it when it first came out, and have not played it since. im about 55% complete.
Amazing game, I beat the GCN version sometime last year. I ABHOR the "sequel" Warrior within, though. They turned the prince into an asshole, and put too much emphasis on the combat rather than the puzzle solving. I suggest staying far away from it, but Iif you can deal with these unnecessary "improvements" then you might enjoy it.
"First, we have aspirin. A common cure for things that aspirin cures. Leads to.....rabies."
SoT was only great? What?
The game was absolutely amazing. The sequel, while fun, is not nearly as good as Sands of Time. Like Crush said, the emphasis on combat kinda ruined it. I liked the acrobatic scenes from the first game so damned much, I was hoping the sequel would just be the same.
Whoa, source? This could be intense, along with the Hitman movie.Originally Posted by studvicious
I have four words for Sands of Time: Most. Overrated. Game. Ever. I was suckered by the endless amount of press attention this game got, and when I found it for $20, I was expecting what the 8 out of 10's and 4 out of 5's had told me. Instead, I got environmental puzzles that relied on proper camera placement, clunky and brief combat, and a VCR system that tried to disguise the endless amount of trial and error this game required. I actually much prefer the GBA version; it's a down-to-earth platformer that doesn't necessarily have the fluid animation that the Jordan Mechner classic contained, but it makes up for it with some tried and true old-school gameplay and crisp graphics. Warrior Within was even worse; as I played the game at a friend's house, I noted only three major changes: graphics, dual-wielding, and some stupid pole-dancing manuvers. I can definitely say I enjoyed some of the more critically panned games (like Enter The Matrix) moreso than I did PoP: Sands of Time.

Of course, it's also very handy to have perpetual health-regeneration, too - especially in the boss battles.
Unfortunately, even though I would check in periodically with GameFAQs, I went ONE door too far and I couldn't go back to the ONE room where it's possible to unlock the original. It made me not even want to finish the game at all at that point.
They really needed a system where you could warp around the castle or something once you reach a certain point. All those health-extension things (I couldn't figure out what they were at first...I was like - what's this weird place where I go over a bridge and drink some mystic water...?) and a lot of the other "power-ups" were one-time things that, if you missed, could really cripple you by the end of the game.
You are startled by a grim snarl. Before you, you see 1 Red dragon. Will your stalwart band choose to (F)ight or (R)un?
This is a great game, not the best ever but really cool I had fun, the last level were a bit meh though....
and don't get part 2 ww it sucks wait till comes out on budget instead :/
Go, go Ackman!
