Default Life Cycle 3500 Exercise Bike for the Super Nintendo

    http://kansascity.craigslist.org/vgm/2502453027.html

I've never heard of this before. I wish something like this was made for the PSX, Dreamcast or PS2 back in the day, to use with a port of the arcade game Prop Cycle.

If you're in the area, $250 is an excellent price for this. This is what I wrote about the Lifecycle in the 1994 chapter of the 4th edition of Phoenix:

"LifeFitness, a leading manufacturer of exercise bicycles, teamed up with Nintendo of America and came up with the Lifecycle 3500, an exercise bike that hooked up to a standard SNES. The $800 bike was sold with the Lifecycle Exertainment, a unit that plugged into the bottom of an SNES. That unit was then connected to another, which plugged into the bike. Special game controllers, which attached to the bike’s handlebars, were also included. The front of the bike attached to a kiosk which contained a built-in TV monitor. The bike could only be used with SNES games that were specifically designed for the Lifecycle 3500. The games had a Program Manager built into them, which monitored the cyclist’s performance while calculating distance, time elapsed, and calories burned.

Unfortunately, only two games were ever available for the system. Mountain Bike Rally was packaged with the bike, and Speed Racer was available for sale. Pac-Man and Tetris were announced but never released. The combination of the lack of new games and the system’s high price doomed it."

I was lucky enough to find one of these, along with complete copies of MBR/Speed Racer and MBR 4-5 years ago on eBay. I paid $200 for the lot. It was local pickup only, which I assume is why there were no other bids. In addition to being a really cool SNES accessory, it's actually a pretty decent exercise bike.

$250 is a great price, especially with the game. I'd pick it up in a heartbeat.

If you can take it apart and ship, you'd likely get more for it on ebay/etc.

wallywoo500 is very interested in this. Difficulty: He's in NJ. Send him a PM, he will take it if you can work out getting it out to him.

I have expressed interest and am able to get it picked up, but have not heard from the seller, so not really sure what is going on with this one.

edit: and by 'expressed interest', I mean I'm ready and able to buy it and pick it up.

Bumping this because I still haven't heard anything back on it and I'm wondering if anyone else has. I hope wallywoo500 is in secret talks to get it. There is a good chance I would have wound up shipping it off to him if I got it myself (unless my wife started using it a lot). Whether he is working on a deal or not, though, bad form on the seller not even getting back to me, especially since the ad is still up.

    Default The Game box

So finally I found a place that tells me what the box screwed to my Super Nintendo is. I don't have any games but if someone is interested I would sell at a reasonable price. If anyone is interested email me or post here. I am a huge SNES fan myself and would love to see something so unique go to a good home.

I have contacted him NUMEROUS (maybe 10-15 times) times that I was making arrangements to FLY out to PICK it up myself and SHIP it back to NJ... but sadly the seller has NEVER replied to ANY of my messages...

IM STARTING TO FADE AWAY ON THIS ONE... sigh!

The messages were originally being sent to spam folder, undetected, but once found they grew to being creepily demanding. They were deleted as being suspected fake e-mails. It's not for sale anymore.

Not the central topic but since you mentioned it: Prop Cycle!! You dont hear that brought up much. I used to love that game. I wish it had a home port too.
