I've looked & looked, but haven't found anything. I picked up a stack of marquees recently, including a great Discs of Tron, and I want to get some backlit boxes to hold them & hang on the wall.
Anybody out there make these, or is this an excuse for me to buy a router table?
I've already "built" one in my head, so maybe I'll do it anyway - but if the price was right I'd rather just buy a couple.

Wow. If there aren't any out there, there should be...
That's a great idea. I'd buy some..

These guys make Light Boxes for movie posters and do custom builds to youre specs, looks kinda pricey though.
Maybe they are a nit more reasonable away from Ebay ?

Probably better off building youre own price wise.

If you're going to build one, don't forget about the article PDF wrote:

Yep, in my searches I came upon that article. I like the idea, but what I'm really looking for is a fully enclosed wooden box w/ fluorescent fixture. I've already figured out exactly how I'm going to build it - the only trick is that it can't be an assembly line process since marquees come in so many different sizes. Maybe next weekend I'll make the Home Depot run & crank out a couple prototypes.
I did see one made from the top of a scrapped cabinet - it was kind of cool because it still had the t-molding for that authentic "disembodied" look. But the more I thought about it, the more I realized that I would prefer a holder that de-emphasized the framing and was just an understated vehicle for displaying an authentically backlit marquee.
Of course, once the holder is made, the next step is to find a color-correcting bulb / gel combination to offset the years of "greenification" the D.O.T. marquee has undergone from it's long-term exposure to fluorescent light.
