It's certainly not going to be Vietnam. A 40 yr old war isn't exactly "modern warfare" as mentioned in the games title. I also doubt it's Iraq...no game company is going to touch that one for a few years.

Actually given Call of Duty's multi-cultural backgroung you're either going to be looking at Afganistan, or several different armed conflicts around the world. Possibly some in Africa. Although i don't see them doing that and keeping it T rated. I mean what with all the child soldiers and all.

I've heard Infinity Ward is indeed doing this one if so than it should be excellent. Call of Duty 1 and 2 were two of the finest FPS games around.

Call of Duty 3 was by Treyarch so the game wasn't really that good, they redid the multiplayer and made it a buggy class based mess. If you play Call of Duty 2 online it's pretty much flawless.

I got the game when it was first released and couldn't connect to any online games. I'd just sit in the lobby and nobody would show up. When I tried to join matches, I'd get 'timed-out' message 100% of the time.

Tried 3 different routers too but that didn't help any. Tons of other people had the same problem as well. It was just a broken mess so I ended up trading it for Oblivion.

The trailer was released on Saturday (April 28).

Based on the scenes in the trailer, the enemy is some rogue terrorist outfit. The "bad guys" are obviously not Middle Eastern...which isn't too surprising considering the PC world we live in. Somehow they steal (or try to steal) Russian nuclear weapons. The locations look pretty varied but look like they could all be encompassed into the former Soviet Union territory.

Since this is leaning more torwards the rpg I expect the action sequences to be ok not out of this world. Compelling story. I haven't seen galaxy exploration this big since Homeworld.

Gamespot said that both the Pc and 360 versions of Blacksite has gone Gold and is Scheduled for release on Nov 12th. Is mass effect 1 disc or 2. I can't see how they would be able to cram all thoses galaxies all on one disc.

I've already got the Mass Effect Limited Edition pre-ordered, I'll be pre-ordering Fire Pro Returns, and KOF XI this week, then Neo Geo Battle Coliseum next week.

In fact, the only game I'm not getting this month is Fire Emblem: Goddess of Dawn. I still need to beat Path of Radiance, as the stories are interconnected, and you can transfer your save over. Too bad my memory card just fried. Oh well, I just bought a new one the other day.

Personally for me, this will go down as quite possibly the greatest gaming month of my life (Yes, even more so than Wii launch last year). But greatest holiday ever? Hm... Holiday 2000 is VERY very tough to beat.

Who's buying this tomorrow/Tuesday? Best Buy and Circuit City have advertised they'll have the game by 2pm Tuesday. Gamestop called and said it'll be here by Monday evening. I'm having so much fun with The Orange Box, that I might hold off until Tuesday to pick it up.

FYI: You get a free copy of CoD3 (360) if you purchase CoD4 (360) at Circuit City this week.

I have to say I haven't been this excited for a FPS...probably ever. Modern era shooters are my favorite. Halo and Half-Life are excellent, but the science fiction aspect lessens them a bit when it comes to sustaining my interest. Finally we have a worthy online successor to R6: Vegas.

The early reviews say that (surprise, surprise) the 360 version is superior graphically to the PS3. The PS3 apparently suffers from the good old jaggies.

Sounds like there is going to be little replay in that save for achievements. I'm going to be all about the Multiplayer. I was watching an in depth interview on gamespots website and the game looks to be really good from the crazy aliens like the one at the end of the demo that went into the ground to one that Is on a bridge that is so large its tentacles hang off. The demo was short but the interview it looked nice

You'll start over. Theres no way that they are going to let us have that big of a leap on the other players. Especially due to that level capping, I burned alot of XP maxing out weapons that didn't boost my level when they jammed us at 16. I had a real hard time pushing to 24 those last two days when we had that opportunity since I had so little left that I could earn any XP with. I look forward to re-earning everything.

Sci-fi always wins out over (WW2--> modern ) war flavored games...I like the little bit of Blacksite.

How awesome is it that CoD4 has no online achievements? I just checked out the list and every single one is for the campaign mode. This is continuing the common sense approach that Bungie began (to a extent) with Halo 3. I'd like to see more of this. Nothing ruins an online experience faster than people playing just to get a specific achievement.

Nope it is just a regular sealed game an art book like the one in gears and a dvd in a sleeve like a 360 demo. the silver box cardboard case is nice.

I just got my copy from GameStop/EB online... Unfortunately they screwed up pretty hardcore. They shipped me a regular version of the game when they were suppose to ship out the LE. Talking with customer service, this seems to be some massive widespread problem and that they hope to have a LE version for me by the time they recieve my copy back in the mail from me. However there is no guarantee for me getting my LE.

No CoD4 for me for at least another week plus.

CoD4 is excellent so far BTW. I only got to play it for about 2 hours last night, but it was still a blast. "Regular" difficulty is a challenge. The enemies sure like their grenades. Wow.

The Sunday ad circular advertises: Buy CoD4 (360 version) get CoD3 (360) for free. While supplies last. It was reported that CC's were getting in extra CoD3 stock, so just show them your receipt. If they don't have anymore CoD3's, you're out of luck.

I agree...it's incredible. For those who haven't played it, "Death From Above" is a nighttime gunning mission from an AC-130 gunship. You can cycle between 3 onboard weapons and take out various targets on the ground. The entire mission is in the perspective of the "black & white" night vision that you see time to time on various programs about Iraq or Afganistan. Example...

The missions realism is enhanced by the humorous pilot banter and various radio communications. This could be the best "level" in any game this year. Fucking spectacular.

Anyway, multiplayer is amazing. My 360 was getting repaired when the CoD4 beta was going on, so I never got a chance to play it. I played last night for about 3 hours. Excellent, well balanced and so much fun (I love the RPG-type leveling up). They even have the patented Halo melee attack. I love this game.

Alot of ppl are saying "eh do we need need another war game" but I can honestly say there's a strong market for them. COD4 hasn't even been out for a week yet and already there's a ton of ppl playing it. I was on til 3 in the morning last night and it was still full.

Actually, it really worked for about an hour or two until Circuit City corporate realized they had misprogrammed the computers nationwide. They immediately sent out a correction to stores and in the interim, most stores were manually processing COD4 at $29.99 and COD3 at $29.99 for the price to work. Not sure if you can return COD3 if you got it rung up this way. I don't know of any midwest or west coast stores where this worked, but I do know a couple of people who got it in various east coast stores for this price right at opening and they posted the receipts to prove it.
