View Full Version : Possible to "rip" music from Tiberian Sun installation?

This may be a long shot, but I thought I'd ask anyway.

I love the moody, atmospheric music that plays during Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun's installation (the original, not the one in The First Decade set since there is none). IIRC, it wasn't on the soundtrack for the game at all.

Does anyone here know if I could somehow rip that music from the CD or the installation? Or does anyone know where I could locate that music and download it? Any help is appreciated.

There may be a way, but I am unsure. In the meantime, check this website:

I am a fan of the game.

Whew, figured it out! Whoo hoo!

I found these XCC Utilities that open Command & Conquer's .MIX data files, and found all the installation's music in the SETUP.MIX file on the CD!

So, I extracted the music to a .WAV file, used Audacity to mix in the "beeps" as it is heard in the installation, and used foobar2000 to make mp3s!

Thanks for the link though, SkiDragon. Here are the files I made for anyone else who is as nerdy as I am. :p

With sound effect:

And just the music by itself:

Tiberian Sun rules!

Hah, you bastard...it's a good thing I hit refresh before I hit reply, because I was about to make a post about XCC Mixer :)

Yeah...I jumped on the C&C bandwagon late, so I never knew that much about any of the modding tools that have been out there for it.

I asked one of my friends about it the other day, and he actually mentioned XCC, but it slipped my mind. So, I just hit up google for .MIX file info and BAM! :) Thanks though.

The beeps sound sort of loud, but I could be wrong.

No, you're right. I went back into the install and realized the music overtakes the beeping effect a little more then I thought, so I mixed together another mp3 that quiets down the sound effect in the face of the music.

There's a link to download it on the page, but for some reason you have to click "Next" 20 times before you get a download link. I tried pasting it, but it doesn't work. If you know of another site I can upload it to where you can download it, I'll toss it up there.
