Found out about the ultra rare elemental gearbox special edition gcon which could only be won in a competition that featured industry types (reviewers developers etc)

Thought i had to have a gold gcon and some of you may have seen my gold ps1 thread, so i painted one up last night in a brilliant reflective metallic gold finish.

i took this picture with light shining on it for maximum effect.
gcons are surprisingly easy to disassemble.

heres a link to info about the elemental gearbox assassin case which featured the gold gcon

this is also a glossy reflective gold it`s the lighting i`ve used and they`ve used in the pics that differs. i`ll take a picture in natural light.

it`s completely useable and like the one in the case it would come off with excessive sweat and could chip(this is stated in the letter form working designs), some gloss lacquer would be a good idea.

the paint i used was plasti kotes brilliant gold, i`ll check the type of paint but i`d imagine it`s enamel. the can top is a reflective metallic gold.

thought i`d post more of my painted psx collection. i`ve got one that i`m doing in red and one in green once the paint arrives, the metallic paints give a nice glittery finish.

I remember bidding on an Assassin's Case auction some years ago on eBay.

I think it sold for $275 or thereabouts.

I'd kill for one now. And the game's awesome too.

Guess what.....

When they did the GunCons for the Assassins cases.... they (WorkingDesings) painted them with gold paint. Zach Meston relayed that lovely bit o' info to me a few years back when I was raiding his brain on WD nuggets. Same with the Memory cards (though some have been seen w/o paint as well) that came in the cases, that was just gold paint. There was no special production run of accessories made for those cases.
