2. Is there anything compatible/similar released in the US?

Apparently After Burner II for Genesis works with it. I figured there was some kind of alternative controller available, since the game says "CONTROL PAD" in the lower left corner of the title screen. Interesting... I wonder how easy it would be to craft a workalike.
