Loved the story. As for improvements, the only thing I can suggest is to name those two sealed games you got from your dad. Your story left me wondering about that.

It might help the story to mention when you were born. Either that, or give the reader some reference point as to your age and the consoles, or when the story took place. For example, something like:

"Being born in the early 90's, I am too young to have experienced first-hand the "ancient" consoles such as Odyssey, Atari 2600, Sega Master System, and even the NES ..."

Great story. I like the detail about how it took a long time to hook up and how you had to figure it out.
