So I finally have a Saturn coming via eBay and had a few questions for those in the know.

1. Two of the games it comes with are Nights and Virtua Cop. Do I need the analog controller and light gun respectively to play these or do they just enhance the experience?

2. It also comes with Legend of Oasis. Would you recommend playing through Beyond Oasis before playing it?

3. Can you use any S-Video cord with the Saturn or is a specific item? What about standard AV cables?

Thanks for the help!

1. They arent needed, but enhanced with these perhipials.. The gun makes Virtua Cop a lot more fun.

2 Never played it.

3. You need specific saturn cables for the system's video cables..

Some people (myself included) actually think NiGHTS plays better with a dpad than an analog stick. You'll want to get the NiGHTS analog pad eventually, though, since it's cheap and is an excellent controller. It works with all the Saturn's racing games, though only for steering, acceleration and braking don't use the analog triggers since the Saturn steering wheel didn't have analog pedals.

Legend Of Oasis is actually a prequel to Beyond Oasis, so maybe it's better to play them backwards in fact. Really it doesn't matter one way or the other, though. They're both excellent games, but I think Beyond Oasis is better.

I would suggest getting the Saturn 3d controller because it enhances the gameplay even more and it is a great controller. As far as the cable goes you can pick up either an a/v cable or s-video cable on ebay just make sure it has the saturn port on it. I've heard they now make component cables for saturn but I have yet to see any of them.

Component cables for the Saturn would require some sort of converter box since the system doesn't output component natively. It does output RGB which can be converted to high quality component.

I would highly recommend getting the analog controller for Nights. The game plays like a dream with it.

Also you probably should get the Saturn Light Gun for Virtua Cop.

virtual cop, like in my opinion all light gun games, are virtually unplayable, and absolutely terrible unless you use the gun...
