Sega CD?

Nowadays with systems a heck of a lot cheaper used as opposed to new, I've picked up a few mostly just so I could enjoy a game or two -- like a 3DO and a TurboDuo. Now I'm wondering if I should include a Sega CD to the list.

There's mostly ONE game I'd like to play -- Star Wars Triliogy by Sega. I'm not sure exactly why, but this arcade game has been a favorite of mine since it was released. Recently, though, the local arcade in the mall that had it got rid of it, and I need a fix. :)

It's my understanding that the Sega CD was the ONLY console to see a home version of this game.

So how much should I expect to pay for a Sega CD system and a Star Wars Triliogy game and is there anything else I need to watch for/be carefull about?

Um, sorry to stomp on your hopes and dreams to play this game at home, but Star Wars Trilogy was never released on the Sega CD. The arcade game came out in 1998 and there were talks about porting it to the Sega Dreamcast, but that never happened. That's probably what you were thinking of.

You're right. For some reason I got this confused with Star Wars Arcade, which DID come out for a home system -- the Sega 32X. Arcade was a lot of fun also, and I'm sure I can pick up a Genny and a 32X for pretty cheap. :)

Too bad no home version of Star Wars Trilogy Arcade was ever released. Maybe Sega might consider it for the GameCube. Well, a man can always pray. :)

(But I have'nt checked to see if MAME could handle it.)

I for one, have a 32X setup, and Star Wars Arcade is GREAT. Even though the graphics don't hold up so well these days it's still dirt cheap.

Well, I think I'll go looking on EBay for one. What should I expect to pay for a 32X and Star Wars Arcade? There's no such thing as a combo Gen/32X, is there? (Can you tell how freakin stupid I am on Sega systems? LOL )

That also inspires me to see what the best port of Star Wars: The Arcade Game by Atari is. :D

Used 32Xs tend to be on the cheap on Ebay, usually because they're incomplete. 20-25 is the going rate for a complete or new-in-box set, right? I got mine for $15 complete and Star Wars Arcade for a buck ninety-nine. :D The clincher is finding a set with all the necessary cables.

But I would have to get a Genesis as well, right? Does it matter if it's Model 1 or Model 2? I'll keep in mind the need for cables, thanks. And check on GameFAQ's to see if there any other good 32X games.

Yes, you'll need a Genesis. Model 1 needs an extra adaptor for the cable to connect the system to the 32X, so there might be less hassle hooking a Model 2 up to it.
