For fans of the Epyx classic, Impossible Mission - more good news! It seems that Nintendo will be adding IM to the shopping channel - BUT:

It's not going to be a Virtual console game. Just a standalone game with an updated and a retro version.

After reading the article, I guess I still don't understand. It's a game you download on the Wii...but it's not a "virtual console" title? What's the difference?

That's right. It will have a new version with current-gen gfx and the c-64 original.

Basicly the same thing. The game will gets it own channel just like the other VC games. Only thing different is that you dont buy it through VC.

I have a Wii, but don't know anything about Xbox live so I don't understand.

It will be a free game that will appear on my channels, like the everybody votes channel? I'm confused. Will it cost money?

You'll probably download it from the same area as the internet browser. (called Wii software) as opposed to the Virtual console area.

I'm sure it'll cost money. I think it's about time they started giving us Wii games off the wii shop.

They've been talking about doing this for a while-bout time they actually did!

Impossible Mission is an awesome game.

While this is awesome news no matter what, wouldn't it be cool if this wasn't just a special release but instead the introduction to the Commodore 64 as a virtual console system? I'd love to see Zak McCracken, Summer Games, and The Last Ninja on the VC. Probably a Pipe Dream...

Either way, I can tell you that this is a game that I will play a while...

plaaaaaay foooorevvver!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is probably the beginning of the "Wiicade" rumor. You'll probably see more announcements for original games in the near future.

They announced a long time ago that Commodore 64 would be added to the VC and that Epyx was on-board to provide several of their classic titles. Impossible Mission was one of the games mentioned.

I wonder whatever happened to that.
