Game Gear TV Tuner

Hey,

I have a Game Gear that works great for games. However, I have a TV tuner for it and it only plays the sound while displaying a blank white screen with a small black line at the top. I checked the serial number on the GameGear and it is an all # serial, so it should work.

Anyone have any tips for getting this thing to work? I'd love to be able to watch the hockey game on this thing while i'm at work.

It could just be that the TV tuner is shot. Do you have access to another (appropriate) Game Gear that you could try it on?

i don't... i am starting to think that the tuner is just shot though too. i've cleaned contacts etc. with no success.

What Version of the Game Gear you have. The Newer Models won't work with the TV Tuner

That was my first thought too.

It's my understanding that if the serial number starts with a letter, then its not supported. He said that his starts with a number.

GG's manufactured by Majesco also will not work with the TV tuner. These are the GG's that are decorated with black and white dots on the screen bezel in the place of the color dots which denote Sega-manufactured units.

Have you tried the AV input on the TV Tuner? If it works, then there's a problem with the receiver in the TV Tuner. If it doesn't work, then it could be any number of things.
