Let's shake things up a little bit with this next monthly NAVA meeting. Instead of standing around each others' trade boxes chit chatting and drinking from an inconspicuous cup of conspicuous liquid, how about a little tournament action? We used to do this at the NAVA meetings when they were held at my house but in this latest era the tournament has simply "gone away".
So I propose the following. About 8 months ago I held a tournament for the kids in the store. In this tournament I told them the game was a secret, but they've never played the game (thus their opponents had not either). The idea was to find "The best, if not the fastest-learning gamer in Clifton". What I did was present them with obscure Atari 2600 games - a different game for EACH round, until the brackets were full.
So you now know that the games will be Atari 2600, but you don't know which ones, and you don't know what order or in what round they'll appear. I need 16 or 32 players. No problem, right? I shall sweeten the deal with prizes, of course.
Even if you don't play, Don brought the store a ton of Sony swag that I'll be giving away. PS3 bumper stickers, Loco Roco phone straps, and Sony lanyards - everything must go!
WHEN: Saturday, May 26th, noon to midnight
WHERE: Digital Press Videogames (hey, you can now type this right into Mapquest and we pop up!)
WHAT: 6 arcade machines, at least 4 home consoles, an internet gaming center, trading with your fellow gamer/collectors and this month a potpourri Atari tournament.
See ya's in a few weeks. Bring your game faces.
