I am 3 fights left into the game, and am about to kill a Reeper signifying the end of the fight when the Reaper has 2 Hp. Somehow, Peter gets killed which is a problem, naturally. As I am making my way to the top of the fortress, my main charachter miracioulously dies. I FUCKING HATE IT WHEN THIS HAPPENS. ESPECIALLY AFTER PLAYING FOR 50 FUCKING MINUTES!!!!!

If first you don't succeed...

You love it and you know it. :P Play Sesame Street ABC 123 for 50 minutes then tell me how much you hate it.

LOL

Never played SFII myself, but I beat SF last summer. Before I sold my Genesis and all 130 games, in fact. The original is a great game.

Shining Force II is a pain in the ass, but it's a great game. Keep trying, and you shall succeed... or abuse the in-game configuration cheat like my brother (cannot verify whether this fried his save battery though...).

Either way, enjoy.

Awesome game :) Personal favorite was the chess fight. At least, unlike SFI, this game gives you some random battles you can use to level up. I love all the hidden stuff, too :)

When I played through it, I didn't have a manual, so I didn't know about combining the special items to make new stuff. I do remember, however, getting lost on the overworld for hours when I couldn't remember where I was supposed to go next.

My first stategy-RPG *EVER* was Shining Force III for Saturn. I had no idea what I was doing but I played the hell out of it. Unfortunately, my earlier (bad) decisons at the start of the game affected my current situation and now I keep getting my ass kicked. It seems I have to start over. Grrrrrrrrr..................

Just beat it. Now only have one more fight before ZEON!!!! SCARY!!!

While SF1 has been remade (on the GBA), SFII has never been remade or rereleased, is that correct? *wants both SF's on VC badly*

I think I'm in the minority, but I like SF1 much, much more than SF2.

Well, you're not alone. I too think Shining Force 1 is a much better game, and it's primarily due to the absence of random battles, and much less exploration. It's neatly focused on the battles themselves (you know, the actual gaming bits).

The random battles are kind of pointless and slow down the game anyway. They're outright irritating when you're trying to remember where you need to go. If you want to grind, that's what Egress is for.

Shining Force CD is better than both of them, though.

I actually like Shining Force CD the least of them. Sure it is a great game if you hate exploration and character interaction. It's just battle, shop, battle, shop, etc.

I loved the exploration in SFII. I'm so sick of SRPG's like FFT that just have battles and menus, no walking around.

Every shining force game is easy to play, you just need to pay attention to the battles. Shining force on SegaCD , i finish the game in 2 weeks. I completed the Genesis Version in 3 weeks and i completed the saturn version in a month.

The whole series is just awesome.

Do anyone have a complete list of the whole shining force series, game/and console listed. I only know of the sega cd version, genesis version and saturn version.

There is a game on the Game Gear called Shining Force: Sword of Hadjah (sp?). This is part of the version on the Sega CD.

I enjoyed playing Shining Force 1 and 2. I've also beat Sword of Hayja. I'm at the end of Shining Force 3 but can't seem to beat the last battle. I think I need to start over. And I just started playing Shining Force CD a little while ago. I wouldn't mind getting the Japanese Gamegear versions but am not sure if I could play them without knowing any japanese.

So replay the battle and be grateful for the extra experience you garnished for playing it twice? Not like there's such a thing as game over in Shining Force.

There is:
MD/Genesis: Shining Force I
Shining Force II

Game Gear: Shining Force Gaiden
Shining Force Gaiden II (named Shining Force Sword of Hajya in USA)
Shining Force Gaiden Final Conflict

Mega CD: Shining Force CD ( which is a combo of the first 2 GG Games)

Saturn:
Shining Force III Scenario I
Shining Force III Scenario II
Shining Force III Scenario III
Shining Force III Premium Disc

GBA: Shining Force Dark Resurrection

Then, Shining Force Gaiden Final Conflict, Shining Force III Scenario II,III and Premium Disc, are Japan only.

Of course there are other "shining" games, but there aren't Shining Force games.

Just kidding, I no longer hate this game. It has been completed. Now I shall return to endless hours of Pigskin Footbrawl on genesis. NOICE.

I have been sucked into Shining Force GBA. I got maybe three hours of sleep last night. I have no idea what I'm doing and I love it.

There is:
Shining Force Gaiden Final Conflict

I was unaware of this one. Is it a third Game Gear game? Is it the same as the third storyline on Shining Force CD?

Indeed, it's the third and final Game Gear Shining Force game for the Game Gear and it was released *after* Shining Force CD so it's not on the Sega Cd disk. There is a fan-translated ROM available but otherwise it never was released outside of Japan.

I was excited to get Sword of Hadja off eBay, but man I was disappointed when it arrived.

I bought it loose and can't even figure out how to save! :(

That being said, I've only made a bit into the game, barely past the first battle.

Shining Force is easily my favourite RPG series.. I love the battle system compared to the FF series.

I am a HUGE Shining Force fan and have been since the original debuted on the Genesis. In fact, I was expecting to hate it because I had played Shining in the Darkness and assumed it would be more of the same, but man was I wrong.

Since then I've accumulated mint and complete copies of SF1, SF2, SF3 US, SF3 JP vol 1 and 3, Shining Force: Sword of Hadja, Shining Force Gaiden, and the most expensive of them all (which I got for free), SF3 Premium Disc. I also got the SF3 artbook which is really nice, but there's still a lot of SF related promo items and merchandise I'd like to get my hands on.

SF 1-3, along with Suikoden 1-2, are among my favorite games of all time, period. It's a real shame that recent supposed Shining games for the PS2 like Neo and Shining Tears have been so mediocre and unfaithful to the series' predecessors.

I remember when somebody first told about another RPG- Shining Force. I thought it sounded really stupid that the fights took forever and there were only a couple dozen of them hehe. Glad I gave it a chance :)

That's like saying Final Fantasy Tactics was a prequel to Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo Tales. They may share the same moniker, but the games are not related story-wise and are completely different genres.

You just need to use stratergy and stop focusing on attacking directly as with any RPG game.

The Shining series is probably the only other RPG on the system thank god for 80's anime was around or else this game might have looked something like Ishy( you know western) or pugly. Thank God^^;

:hmm:

There is plenty of other good games. These include (but are not limited to) Sword of Vermillon, Crusader of Centy, Landstalker, Begger Prince, Super Hydlide, Rocket Knight Adventures, and Super Hydlide.

So what does the platformer Rocket Knight Adventures have to do with these RPGs and action RPGs? I'm curious.

Two Super Hydlides?! Isn't one bad enough?
