Let's look at the PlayStation this week. We've got the original console, the PSOne, and then there's backwards compatibility on the PS2 and PS3 (for now). Then, of course, there's emulation and the "other" option.
I use my 30001 model PS2. I've never owned a PS1, and in another "late to the party" moment, I missed out on most of the PSX era until I got my PS2 in 2001 and started buying PS1 games to play on it.
What about you?

PS2.
If for some reason the game doesn't work right on the PS2, I pull out the PSone.

I've got 2 PSOnes, one of which is modified for NTSC games (which I'm steadily building a collection of, donations welcome) and the other which is hooked up to a portable monitor that I just basically only play FFVII and MGS on. I would put the modded one with the monitor but for compat. issues.

Either I play on my PS3 or I'll play via emulation (pSX Emulator, ESSSPSX, or ePSXe, in that order).
Sometimes I just want to chill on the couch while the cat sleeps on my belly (PS3), sometimes I want to record some gameplay video (PS3), sometimes I want to viciously abuse save states (emulation) and sometimes I just want to nab some clean, incredibly high resolution wallpaper images (emulation).

I selected both PS2 and emulation.
I really enjoy playing my PS1 games on my computer, because it frees up my tv so I can watch shows at the same time. Plus, you got the big screen right in front of your face. And I don't have to worry about memory card space, since I can save directly to my comp.
Of course, I can't play on the computer all the time, so I still boot games with my PS2.

PSOne with LCD. Best looking screen ever... in the history of ever.

I play legitimate PS1 CDs on my PS2.
I often play ripped PS1 games on my PSP
Sometimes I want to continue PSP savegames at my house, so I continue those games in my home theater running ePSXe emulation on my PC...
And I have a modded PSone for imports.

PS2, It helps save some space and all of my games run just fine on it.

I prefer the original Playstation hardware so I play my PS1 games on one of the nine original PS1 models that I own. I buy any PS1 that I find for under $10 in the wild, so I've accumulated a decent collection. I'm a gamer and not a video game collector. Despite that, I'll admit that cheap PS1 systems (either loose or complete) are the one thing I like to collect or hoard.
I've never owned a PSOne and it isn't on my list of priorities. I do own a PS2 but I have no intention of playing PS1 games on there. To me, that's like playing Game Boy Color games on the Advance, just goes against my principles.

I love my PSOne with screen. It's the best way to play original playstation games. I love that I can take it with me when I travel too. I have a car adaptor so I never have to stop playing.
However, if I'm just wanting to relax on my couch then I play it on the PS2. It's not perfect, but sometimes I just want a bigger screen.

I play Playstation games on my PS3. It's nice not to have to mess with a million memory cards...really nice.
I still use my PS1 with LCD screen from time to time. I picked up a few Sony LCD screens for $12 a few years ago at Toys R Us. It's something I probably never would have bought at the original price, even though now I can see they were worth it.

The PS2 that way i can smooth out the graphics using the tex mapping. They look alot better than the little jaggies on the PS3.

The good news is that was fixed two system updates ago. PS1 games on a PS3 hooked up via HDMI or component is about as good as those games will ever look.

Started playing on my green debug unit I got a week or so ago, cool little thing. I haven't played many PSX games in a very long time, it will be nice to get back into them.

I love my little white PSOne, it's probably the cutest console I own. Something about playing PSX games on the PS2 doesn't feel right to me, so PSOne all the way, baby!

plus you can actually play Tomba on a PS3! I was upset when I found out that I couldn't play it on my PS2, especially since my PS1s were packed up a good 1,000 miles away. Imagine my delight when I tossed it into my PS3 and it loaded up peachy.
The upscaling to 480i is just icing on the cake. It's nice to not have to swap to s-video whenever I want to play a low-res game.

Right now?
I either bust out my US Green Debugger, my Slim PS2 or my Japanese Slim PS2.
Not that i've had any cravings to play any PS stuff for a while... buying stuff sure, playing... not so much.

Same here. Playing Sammy Sosa's Softball Jam, or whatever it is called, and NFL Gameday 2004 in the same evening will quickly make me reach for a different system.

Usually I use the Slim PS2 for the true component out (2D PSX game in RGB *joy*), since I need the better S-Video out for photo capturing Game Rave images.

I should have put an option for the Slim PS2 in the poll. Oh well.
Also, the only PSX games I've been playing in the last month were Intelligent Qube, Strikers 1945, and some pinball sims (mostly Pro Pinball: Big Race USA and Patriotic Pinball, and I tried KISS Pinball out - ugh).

Smaller model PS1, white, purchased 2nd hand in mid 2003.
It's kind of iffy nowadays, has problems reading some games, and the spindle broke ages back [fixed with tape].
Not that I have time thesedays to play, stupid work.

I have two modded PS1 units that were given to me a couple of years ago, and every now and then I hook them up and download some games. I also have a few originals that I've kept around just in case I get a PS3.

Bought my first Playstation back when Orge Battle was first released. Got my PS with Orge Battle, Wild Arms, Ridge Racer and Resident Evil. Preordered FFVII soon after. Played through RE and Orge Battle (I gave my SNES copy of Ogre along with a complete Phantasy Star to a friend for his b-day). Didn't like Wild Arms... picked up FF7 and blech. Traded it all in about 3 months later (for Saturn and SegaCD games) and stuck with my Saturn. Didn't get re-interested in the PS until Metal Gear Solid and SotN were out. Moved to Texas shortly after that and bought a PSone. This time I got Front Mission 3, Final Fantasy Tactics, MG Solid and SotN. Later I grabbed up Castlevania Chronicles and bought the rest of my PS fare used or traded for some games. I enjoyed the PS2 much more in the following years.

I want the true, accurate experience of what was intended by the developers when I play my games, so I don't trust PS1 emulation or the PS2/3 worth a hoot. It's far too common for the games to play/look slightly different. I'm not into the options that "improve" the games either. I want sharp, clean, crisp pixels, not smoothed out, smeared shit for graphics. :P
So to me, nothing beats using an original PlayStation (gotta be in s-video, though; standard composite on PlayStation blows). I normally use my 9001 model that I bought brand new back in 1999. This was my first PlayStation, and I've kept it in perfect shape. At my mom's house, I use a 7501 model, I believe, which I picked up a few years ago. Finally, I have a complete launch model that I keep boxed up. It's been modified, so occasionally I'll pull it just to screw around with it. Those models heat up really fast, of course, so I don't want to use it for any significant playing.
Instead, I use my Japanese PS2 for imported PlayStation games. Sure, it goes against what I'd like to do, but it's good enough for my needs. I'd rather have one system that plays both my Japanese PS1 and PS2 games, especially since I don't play Japanese PS1 games nearly as much as US releases. I do have one import that doesn't seem to work on it, though, so I'm thankful I ended up with that modded PS1.

PS2 mostly though PS1 for imports. If I could find a decent emulator I'd just use my comp instead.

Mine is model SCPH-9001. It was made in 2000. It looks like the first model but I think it had it's innards slightly redesigned to combat the overheating problem of the first model. I also bought a PSOne unit a few years back but haven't used it to date.
