Greetings once again to all.
I seem to be creating too many topics as of late and they're all related to one cab that has become my latest project. So as to not crap up the forum, I'm consolidating everything from this point on in one thread.
I will probably ask some noobish questions, and I'm still learning as I go. I appreciate everyone's patience and help on this, so on to the project!
----------------------------------------
The early beginning:
I have an old Bally/Midway cab. Inside it has an original setup sheet for Mrs. Pac-Man stapled to the cab. From the screen burning it, it looks like it was in fact a Mrs. Pac-Man. However, when I bought it, it had been converted to Final Fight.
The dark ages:
For nearly 10 years this machine has been moved around from place to place only rarely seeing any action. It has deteriorated in health, the cab is dirty and filled with dust. Some of the metal in the cab has oxidized and begun to rust slightly, and the firebuttons and joysticks are beginning to fail.
The present tense:
I finally have my own permanent residence and have moved the machine in doors and am wanting to fix her up. Specifically I plan on modding this machine NOT restoring it. I have already purchased a single slot Neo Geo board and am looking into putting other cartridge based systems into the cab. I am also toying around with the idea of putting a mame machine in there.
The future:
The original wheels on the machine do not roll well on carpet, thinking of puttin the machine up on casters or making a base with casters and setting it up on that. I obviously have to rewire/replace the joysticks. And I'm really not happy with the angle the monitor is sitting at, but that will be a pain to chain.
What this thread is for is for idea exchange, suggestions, ideas and the occasional bit of help. Please feel free to send your thoughts my way and remember I don't plan on restoring this cab to original and have no plans doing unconventional mods.
-------------------------------------
I'll edit this portion with pictures and status.
