View Full Version : Canceling a complaint on Ebay?

I bought something on Ebay, waited, contacted the seller several of times, but got no answer so i finally filled out a complaint. I did this through Ebay and was redirected to Paypal and finished the complaint there. Some hours later i get the tracking number, checked it and its valid.

Is it enough to login to Paypal and cancel the complaint from there? Or do i "have" to do it through Ebay also? I dont want the guy to have a complaint on him if i recieve the package.

Did you just do an initial complaint through Paypal or did you escalate it to a full dispute (chargeback)? If it's the initial complaint, you'll know, because you'll be able to leave messages for the seller in the dispute console. If that's the case, you can simply let it expire and no harm will be done to the seller's PP or ebay account.

If you have escalated it, there should be a button in the dispute saying something similar to "I am pleased with the result of the transaction and want to close the dispute." PP keeps changing the exact wording of that phrase.

Im not sure, i went to this page and clicked on "Open an Item Not Received or Significantly Not as Described dispute":

I then had to fill out which item number, what payment method i used and what date i payed. After that i was forward to Paypal.

Not yet, it was first sent like 2 days ago or so (altho i did win it about 3 weeks ago).

Just log-in to paypal.com and click "dispute console". Then you can either escalate or close the claim.

Why would you close the claim just because you got a tracking number? I'd leave it open until I got the item.

First, i got the package some days ago :) I didnt cancel it before i got it. I saw that you could wait upto 20 days (time you got to comunicate with the seller) from filling the complaint before it was being processed. The tracking number was valid, i saw that the package had arrived to my country. Therefor i didnt want to the Paypal complaint to start, but i saw that the the complaint wouldnt be processed before like 27th May or something so i waited until i got it. I did cancel the complaint through Paypal and all is good. Tnx for the help people :)

A complaint will just "disappear" unless you escalate it to a paypal claim.

Are you sure? If i read it right it said that the complaint would automaticly be escalated after the communtication period (20 days or so) had past.

No. It just ends, and you lose your chance to file a claim.
