Yeah, it's probably hacked. Notice the text in the speaker box in the "secret stage". The text had faulty spacing, showing a bad hack job AND the fact that NintendoTM was written on the bottom (I have never seen them do that). Second, the laser seemed to be poorly animated and not up to the quality of he rest of the game. Finally, and most importantly, something this major would not be found in this game 15 years after it's released.

I have played the TOP SECRET AREA several hundred of times. There is no secret warp tunnel, there is no ??? at that particular spot, and there is no laser suit.

The video's been around for a while, but I loved the placement of the secret area. I remember when I was a kid looking at that lonely little island and thinking, "There's got to be a way to get up there." Of course the fact that the completed file was something like 96 (Thinking it meant %) made me sure that there was a way to get up there.

I remember hearing playground rumors that it was a secret level like the one in the video, only instead there were a bunch of different Yoshi's, including "King Yoshi". Wow, we had vivid imaginations back then.

Hey, that's exactly what happened with that hidden room in LttP. Took many, many years before it was discovered. So it has happened before where millions of people missed something that was in the game.

That being said, I'm fairly sure this laser suit thing is from a hacked rom.

Oh right. I remember reading about that and thinking, what a lousy prize. But then again, here we are talking about Chris Houlihan, so maybe not.

Nintendo Power had a lot of those contests where I just though, "Something is going to go terribly wrong. Remember the Mask contests where you won a walk on role in the Mask 2? I wonder what happened there.

Even though the thing in the original post is more than likely not real I'm very interested in secrets like these. I had never seen the Chris Houlihan room, why did it take so long for it to be discovered? The steps to getting there don't seem too complex or anything..

Some years ago (2001-2002?) Miyamoto said no one had yet discovered Zelda OOT's biggest secret. What became of this? I know some years ago someone found a working Arwing enemy from Starfox in the rom but I don't think anyone ever found a way to access it in the normal game.

Anyone know of any other secrets that weren't discovered until several years after the games release or weren't discovered until someone had access to the rom file?
