Paratrooper (http://www.dosgamesarchive.com/download/game/203)

My dad worked for IBM, so we had one of the earlier home computers before we ever had any sort of console. I think I played it on a 5150

Home console: Either Combat or Pac-man for the 2600.

Arcade: I have no idea. I'm guessing Pac-man or Space Invaders.

The way first game must be some Game & Watch game (or some LCD game). Remember it from kindergarden :)

In arcades: My local Kentucky pool hall got one of the original yellow Pong cabinets. Played that, and the Gunfight machine right next to it.

At home: Coleco Telstar system with gun attachment. Played tennis, handball, jai alai, hockey, skeet- and target-shooting. Of the choices, I'm certain my brother and I played Pong as soon as it was out of the box and hooked up.

Either Donkey or Decathlon. Both on an IBM XT. Donkey was a very simple game, where a donkey would slowly walk up a road while cars were approaching it. You just had to steer him left or right to avoid the cars.
I have no idea what version of Decathlon I used to play. I recently replayed the Activision (or Microsoft?) version for the XT, but it's not the same.

Strangely enough, shortly after I started playing King's Quest and Larry I, although I didn't speak English :-) And it took some time until I realised what Larry was all about...

console: I remember playing combat and getting my ass handed to me at my cousins house. I do believe around the same time(1981 or 1982) I also was playing on a dedicated pong system that my dad got from Radio Shack.

First arcade game, I'm almost positive, was Donkey Kong.

I still love both.

Space Invaders (arcade).

Myrtle Beach. July, 1979. At the pavillion.

I remember it like it was only a few hours ago....

My first home game was my sisters pong console before we got our Odyssey 2..

The first game I can recall playing was Tank in the arcade sometime in the 70s, probably 76 or 77. The Tank II cabinet on KLOV looks like what I remember.

Sometime later, I got to play the Space War arcade game. The Cinematronics stand up model looks like the one I remember. I loved playing the ship that looked like the Enterprise.

The game that really hooked me though was Space Encounters. That was the first game which had me going to 7-11 every day to play. My parents actually forbade me from going to 7-11 because of my obsession with this game.

Pac-Man, cocktail style, in my Uncle's bar. He propped me up on a bar stool and gave me a bowl full of quarters. Funny how nowadays I am addicted to both gaming and beer...hmmmm.

I remember seeing an arcade game at the age of three. I'm not sure if I was playing it.

If I wasn't playing it, Then I played a game at CompUsa. It could have been Wario land, Pokemon yellow, Or 1080 Snowboarding for the N64. Or some other game that I can't think of.

Nature Boy

Pong of course.

Couldn't tell you which model or anything. But I do remember my dad bringing home one of the ones with the gun and returning it because it didn't work well enough or something (I have a feeling my mom made him return it because of the price!)

I was going to say Combat but remembered Pong just as I submitted this!

The first video game I ever played was Asteroids. I must have been like 5 or so years old. My Dad held me under one arm while he controlled the direction of the ship. I just hit the hell out of the red fire button. :) We did pretty decent though and I got to put my my initials in. That one time was all it took to get me interested in games. This remains to be one of my earliest memories too.

As for home consoles, it would have been playing Pong on my Dad's old Odyssey 2000. Before we got an Atari he used to hook it up for me and my brother. I'm pretty sure he still has it too. Once we got an Atari though that pretty much killed playing Pong. :)

I remember when I was in elementary school, one of my friends brought their Gameboy with him one day. I can't remember exactly which game it was (could have been Rockman World 2 or Super Mario Land 2) so I'll say that it was the first game I got for MY Gameboy -- Yoshi!

I'm reaching into my short-term memory. Here's what I'm seeing:
1991 playing Shinobi on the SMS...
1990 playing SMB 3 at a hotel party...
1989 playing Jaws on the NES...
1988 playing Mario Bros, PacMan, Fire Fighter and a whole lot more Atari games. My uncle owned an Atari 7800 and still has it and over 40 games. I'd be more of an Atari collector if there were more boxed games commonly found. :-/

My first gaming experience was on the Atari home Pong dedicated unit. My dad borrowed it from a co-worker at HBO. That was about 81 and that made me 2-3 years old.

First arcade experience, I can remember, was Joust and Donkey Kong. Maybe a year or two latter (kinda fuzzy).

First console was, of course, a VCS. My first game was Pac-Man. Also got the light saber Star Wars game but, we couldn't play it. It was early 84 when we got a VCS and the Vader unit my dad bought didn't come with paddles. My favorite game for the VCS was Ghost Manor... which probably led to my insatiable Castlevania lust I'm afflicted with to this day. :D

That's great. I was the same way. In fact that particular game might have very well been the first actual video arcade machine, not including the old mechanical type ones, that I played. The sad thing is that I can not recall. It could be that one, Pong, Tank, Speed Race, Stunt Cycle, Starship I (another one that had Star Trek type ships in it) or some other one from way back in the mid 70's.
I had to browse through KLOV to find the particular names of those above. I distinctly remember playing them just not their specific names or the exact time period. ;)

I'm not quite sure, but it was either Pac-Man, or a Donkey Kong Jr. arcade cab at a laundromat in the mid to late 80's. I remember begging my mom to let me play it while she was doing laundry and she finally gave in. I remember the laundromat, I remember the DK Jr. and Pac-Man cabs (and fooling around with the buttons and joysticks while the games were on attract mode), but I can't remember what game I spent that quarter on. Eventually she got me an NES Action Set, one of the main reasons being that so that I wouldn't ask her if I could play an arcade cab while we were out and about.

EM's.. I believe the first really was that Shark shooting game they showed in Jaws the movie as my dad held me up. And later it was some shufflepuck bowling.

As for videogames themselves it gets blurry.. I dont remember if I played a Pong cocktail first or something like Starship 1 as it all blurs together.

I DO know that the first time I really got enthralled and addicted to videogames though, and that was with Starfire and Space Invaders.

The first game that I have a recollection of playing is actually Popeye for the NES. I'm sure in reality, the first game that I played was SMB/DH or something like that, but I really have a vivid memory of getting all those hearts in that game.

Something on the Atari 2600, I'm sure. We had a decent sized library when I first played it in 1983 or so. It would have been something like Pitfall, Missle Command or Asteroids. I'm inclined to say Asteroids.

Super Mario Bros., back when my parents first bought an NES for me and my sister aound 1989. I also remember playing lots of Tetris and Yoshi, though that would have been a few years later, and watching my sister play a hell of a lot of Dragon Warrior and Dragon Warrior II.

Hard to say for sure at home. I remember the day we bought our 2600, but don't really remember playing it right away. We got combat, of course, and then my dad bought ... the name of this common game escapes me atm... the one with the different cowboy shooting games. My first vivid memories were playing Circus Atari and having a really hard time at it, though. I remember the vivid shades of gray on that 13" TV like it was yesterday...

In the arcade, I have no idea. Earliest memories are of post-PacMan games, but I remember having played pacman before we got it on the 2600, so I don't know anymore.

oh boy remembering my first will be really tough, but I will take a guess. Since my dad owned a colecovision and thats the first game system I remember playing when I was really young I will say it was either donkey kong, donkey kong jr, congo bongo, zaxxon, something like that.

My grandpa had a sega genesis and all I used to play as a kid was sonic the hedgehog, so maybe I played sega first, but I really doubt it.

I can't remember the name but I believe it was on coleco vision. The game where you run across the bridge and avoid dragons and what not. Anyone know the name of this game? If that was not it then it must have been stampede for atari. Although now I hate all games pretty much that do not have music so it's 8bit and up for me. My first 8bit game would have been super mario bros, duck hunt, or gyromite. Don't remember which I played first when I opened my deluxe set.

I can't recall exactly the first game I ever played, but I do know that the earliest games I played were Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 3, Contra, and Castlevania II: Simon's Quest. My older brother and I shared an NES (I was born in 1988 so I was very young) and we'd play it at our grandmother's house.

First game at home was Little Computer People for C64.

First PC game was Space Quest.

First Game & Watch was Donkey Kong Jr.

First GameBoy game was Quarth :/
