it's nice that it won't be a full price release, and that it's stand alone. But I would gladly pay another $80 for a version that came with a keytar.

This better get a 360 release.
I wanted to sell GH2 for PS2 and just keep one guitar around for the hacked version.

I'm just worried about this whole '30 tracks' talk. $40 for 30 tracks is NOT worth it, and if this is how the whole change with who's making it is going to turn out, I'm not digging it.
I'm still going to buy it damnit, I still pre-ordered and bought the other two games on the day they came out. Maybe they'll release a new guitar (that, unless it's REALLY awesome, I won't buy)?

I just can't wait to see what the folks from MTV who now OWN THE GAME can come up for us now.

I'm curious, why do you think that? They keep coming to us with new songs and so far, none of them (outside of a few of the bonus tracks) have been all that bad. Sure, there are a few I'd have replaced with something else, but all in all it's a very easy to pick up and fun game with some great music to enjoy.
When you get right down to it, the gameplay mechanic is pretty simple so there's not a lot to mess up there. This one is all about the content and they haven't failed to deliver yet.
Now that said, I do think that with MTV backing an effort we will be seeing some amazing music in their new line. Probably some that so far they have not been able to secure licenses for.

Hmm...this is so to appease the ps2 crowd...pisses me off I won't be able to buy it for 360. I just do NOT want to bother going back after buying 2 on 360, no point to me. Also, I wish they put in "We Rock" by Dio, I like the Last in Line album the best.

Well, they sell guitars individually, as well as both the games, so if you're pissed because this isn't going to be a package deal, you're just being picky.

According to EB 07/17/07.

Also according to eb the price is 49.99. Definately won't be buying at at that price, unless they end up revealing like 50-60 songs total.

No but all the good parts were :p
Ah, I am excited to see "Bathroom Wall" by Faster Pussycat on here.
Me too, though I'm most looking forward to "Holy Diver". Some decent songs here, but... Asia? Bow Wow Wow? Flock of Seagulls? Not that those are terrible songs, but I really can't imagine rocking out to them and that's what this game is supposed to be about right? I'll still buy this one, though if it really starts at $50 I'll hold out for a used or marked down one.*
*Subject to change based on the rest of the tracks! :)

Not bad. Hope there's some Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Scorpions, Def Leppard and Ozzy on the way.
And I have a feeling most (if not all) of the songs will eventually be available for download on the 360 at some point.

Anyone want to bet me that there will be a 360 release in November (most likely with a wireless controller)? Why release both versions at the same time while you can make more money by having the 360 owners buy the PS2 version while waiting for the 360 one to come out?
You know it's going to happen.

You know it's going to happen.
Which is why I'm strongly considering not buying it. I love the game series but it's starting to annoy me. Four versions of the game in one year seems like overkill to me. They're just milking every drop they can way too fast. Hopefully the quality of the series doesn't suffer with the mass amounts of projects they have planned.

guitar hero is so awesome that they can release a ton of version in a short time span and everyone will eat it up. it has the addictive quality of ddr, but is much easier to get into and offers far wider appeal. they could release a new disc every 6 months and it would sell well, I'm sure of that.

The full version of this game just hit the torrent sites yesterday. Couldn't resist waiting till next week so I downloaded it.
Never thought I'd say this about a GH game but I'm really disappointed in Rock The 80's. The main thing is that the songs are VERY easy. I Played thru all the hard stuff without failing anything and I'm halfway thru expert without failing anything yet either. Plus, all the graphics and characters are ripped directly from the other GH games with just some minor tweaks. Only 30 songs total too. :(
The music is okay but it just feels like they didn't put a lot of effort into making Rock The 80's. Another thing is that they locked out the 3rd party controllers again in this game, so chances are yours won't work if you're using one.
