View Full Version : Sega 3000 PAL/NTSC compatibility help requested.

Does anyone know if a cartridge, Basic 3 specifically, for a PAL 3000 system would work on the Japanese NTSC unit? The Master System is able to do so. I have Sonic 1, 2 and Chaos from the UK and they work perfectly on my US console. Were the earlier Sega 1000/3000 systems cross compatible as well?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I had some Australian John Sands SG-1000 carts and they work fine in my Japanese SG-1000 I & II.

All normal SG/SC games are universal, but I'm not sure about the BASIC carts, mainly because the boxes for the Euro/AU/NZ BASIC carts all state 'PAL' on the cover, while the normal games don't.
Unfortunately I've only got a PAL SC-3000, so I can;t test it for you.
