Wow, i'm not impressed...at all.

I thought they understood what the original Halo fans wanted, obviously not.

Physics is what made the original so great and the vehicles blow up...still. One shot kills with a big laser gun?? Oh yeah thats real "in your face gaming"...

This looks like more of Halo 2. The creative genius was obviously lost to this franchise after the first one. I see nothing here I haven't seen elsewhere. Looks like more of "if player knows the map he dominates"...."if player get big gun that shoots big red frickin laser"...player wins.

I used to play the first Halo on Xbox through gamespy tunnel, and let me tell you...it was skill and intense. This looks like neither. Generic.

Sorry i'm just calling it how I see it, and when I saw the original "Halo 1" videos i was like WOW. I miss that feeling, and honestly i've had that feeling with another game i've seen lately, but I won't mention it so to avoid a console flame war.

If people don't like the big gun, they can tweak it before the release. That's why it's a beta. Balance is one of the things that'll change the most between now and when it comes out, I'm sure.

Actually most of the weapons in Halo 1 with the exception of the needler were incredibly strong. The pistol in particular was broken.

The spartan laser's damage doesn't look particularly different than the rocket launcher's. And as said, this is a beta. And the beta in the video was an older one.

Bungie will tweak it if it's needed, you shouldn't bash the game yet.

I will admit that the pistol was pretty overpowered, but at least the aiming reticule wasn't very large so you had to be fairly accurate. I can see where you're coming from, but considering that people could usually escape from it, or at least had the chance unless someone was really good with headshots.

This looks like it kills in one shot with a good charge regardless of body area.

As far as the rocket launcher went you usually only got like 2 shells, where this one looks like it holds 100 energy using 20 energy per shot. So thats like 5 shots with a laser that looks like it goes much more straight than a rocket.

I respect all you have to say, but honestly I don't see this game changing enough "for me". That's the great thing though my opinion matters as much as anyone elses, not much.

Fact is I just really wanted to see more, and the vehicles blowing up just really needs to be tweaked if they tweak anything. I liked geting blown sky high in a warthog and landing on my wheels, and running the sucker over, lol.

Once the beta launches next week... THEN we can bring this all up.

Out of everything in those videos the only thing i'm not loving is the new Shield Bar at the top of the screen. That just feels very out of place in the current HUD layout.

At this point from very limited footage, it looks far too much like Halo 2. I was hoping for something dramatically evolved, at the very least in map choice, if not in gameplay. Perhaps they're holding back for launch. I hope so.

Agreed I'll wait until it is officially released before passing judgement. The Halo developers has always came through before and I expect them to do the same this time.

Bungie doesn't care about Halo, and they think Halo 2 is the most perfect creation ever. I realize this is a pretty bold and exaggerated comment, but it's how I see it. I think if Halo had been released with Live support it would have been nearly as big as Halo 2 was, and Bungie could have realized that everything they thought was wrong Halo with and proceeded to change in Halo 2, was alright.

I could rant on forever, but I won't. I just wanted to chime in with regards to the original post.

BHvrd, if you ever want to play some Halo on XBConnect, drop me a line.

I dont think the lasergun will be easy to find everywhere on the map. Anyone remember the Redeemer from Unreal Tournament? :) One canon with 1 rocket, after it was used you had to wait X amount of time before it respawned. Maybe the lasergun in Halo 3 will be simular.

One canon.. with just 1 rocket... All to even the playing field.

Sounds like a movie trailer. :D

The game is a beta and should be treated as such. Some people are able to play this game as we speak(friends and family invite from Bungie). I hear that this game plays awsome(like Halo 2 multi). Fans of the series should not be dissapointed.

There is an interview with the Bungie guys at www.gametrailers.com (search for the latest Game Head clips). Check it out, i found it entertaining :) They say the beta is just the core experience of how the multiplayer is. The gfx is not polished or anything.

if you ask me based on that video I would say theres a pretty good chance the Laser gun will be overpowered, I mean it kills people in one hit AND blows up vehicles? charge time for it doesnt seem to be too long either. Well atleast it looks fun to use!

I'm more worried about the fact that Halo 3 has no anti-aliasing and has jaggies out the ass. I'm sure balancing will be just fine after response from the beta has all been collected and analyzed.

...but between this and the Forza 2 demo, it seems like the dreaded jaggies are making their way back into games, and I frickin' hate 'em

One thing that some people have to understand is that a "beta" and "demo" are not finished products. Betas are supposed to be a little rough looking, otherwise they would be a "finished product". I also think that I would wait to play the game before starting to pan it. I personally love it :)

I have to say that I'm a bit dissapointed that this Next-Gen isn't as mind blowing as I thought it would be initially. A year or so before the Xbox 360 was released, I thought the next batch of consoles was going to provide visuals that would totally blow me out of the water, but I must admit that while alot of games look pretty damn good, nothing has given me the kind of feeling I got when I first played the SNES, or when I first played the Playstation, or when I first played the Dreamcast. The leap from the previous generation to this one, has been very limited if you ask me.

Having said all of that, I'm sure by 2009, we will see some games for the 360 and PS3 that will be pretty damn amazing, but still, the kind of graphics I was actually expecting this round aren't gonna happen. I was expecting things along the lines of Crysis. I thought games like Crysis would be commonplace among the 360 and PS3, but these systems just don't have that kind of power.

Check back in 2011.

I think the next gen will be no different. I lost the wow factor along time ago. I believe for the most part we hit the ceiling as far as graphics are concerned. Really how much can a madden visual improve. Short of seeing real people line up most of us won't be impresed. I think this is a good thing because it forces them to work on gameplay. I also thnk this gen is coming along fine. Just finished the area 51 demo and love it.

I would say that some parts of Gears of War and Motorstorm are "next-gen" mind blowing. Both GRAW's also have photo-realistic sequences.
