Hi,
I was wondering if anyone else has seen this video? I'm sure some of you must have seen it. It is a music video that takes place in a computer designed mall that pans about the mall and finds the arcade. The video then goes inside and its liek a flashback to 1984 or so. Anyhow, if you've seen this then you know what I'm talking about. What I wanted to know is the following.

1. Who created it?
2. Is there a website regarding it?
3. Is there any other versions or similar videos?
4. This is probably way out in left field. Has anyone thought of making some sort of multiplayer online game/Chat Room based on something like this video? I can imagine making a character (for chat reasons mostly and maybe for high score recording) and being able to walk around the mall and then goto the arcade to play various classic arcade games and chatting with others in the arcade. It would be a combo chat / meeting location (Like the Sims) and a place to play the popular classic video games in a 80s type arcade. Hell, maybe you could even play the mutliplayer games like GAuntlet 1 or 2 with other real people who are in the arcade as well. Highscores would be saved and maybe displayed on a digital (80s looking) scoreboard. Maybe the view while walking around the arcade would be first person like Everquest or Quake or with an option for 3rd person over the shoulder view. Perhaps various classic 80s music would play in the arcade while all the classic game sounds would fill the atmosphere. Just like a real arcade in the 80s. I have alot more ideas, but won't list them all. I'm sure you get what I'm imagining with the above description.

Like I was saying, I know something like this is probably never going to happen, but it would be cool if some programmers that are classic game fans could get together and make something like this happen. I could imagine something like this having an effect like the Sims Online must have, except this would be for all of us classic gaming fans.

Well, if you have any info on the arcade 84 video please let me know, or if you just want to talk and share ideas on a interactive online arcade type experience feel free to email me. Again, I'm not a programer so this is not something I could create. I just like to talk about it as it just seems like such a cool idea.

Take care
John

What the hell is up with this forum? I posted the above message and it appears in certain parts as being written in broken english or something. I said to myself "What the hell was I writing?" I then went back and edited the post and all the text was proper. Then I saved it again and it still appears to be whacky text. Here is an example.

Well, if you have any info on the arcade 84 video please let me know, or if you just Wanting To talk <----

In my real post it says "Well, if you have any info on the arcade 84 video please let me know, or if you just (want) to talk" ... Yet it appears as above. There were a few more parts of my message where this happened but I was able to fix them. This one no matter what I try it screws with the text. Anyone else have this issue or is this some sort of prank that the board ops have set up? :)

The "Wanting" bit is probably another one of DP's joke. I've seen a few other cases of broken english. To fix it for once and for all, insert a dummy BBC tag inside the word. ie. instead of typing want (or any other word being victimized by the jokers), you type as wa[ b][ /b]nt (without the space) and since the forum views this as a different word, it doesn't get changed.

As for the video, I have it and there's a web site. At least there was a web site when I first discovered it probably 2 or 3 years ago. I don't remember where it was and all the old bookmarks I had from then are long gone. I did use Google.com to search for the file name and it popped up a few hits including this one: http://www.cinemarcade.com/arcade84.html
