I just want to ask everyone here, How do you store your CD Games PSX, Sat, Sega CD, Turbo CD, Dreamcast & others
I use both CD Holders & CD Jewel Cases..
I hear horror storys about Dreamcast disk won't work if it's scratched, Is it ok to store it in those CD Holders..

I put them in a 600 cd case
and use a pc program to classify them
make back up copies of your expensive cd and dvd games
I played pretty heavily scratched cds on a dreamcast without any problem

DIsc based games are the only ones I feel I need to buy complete. I hate disc only games...cart only is OK though...not sure if their is logic to any of that...

complete only, for all systems (ok, maybe not all -- i dotn care about gb/gbc). so basically i just stack the jewel cases like books on a bookshelf. dont have a single loose cd.

I remember being in a game store a year or so ago, and that one, if they saw you pulling the games out of one of those booklets where they're in sleeves, they'd refuse to buy from the customer because of the scratching issue.
All my games reside in jewel cases. For ones where I never get the original case with inserts, I use slimline jewel cases.

I keep my games in their original cases on a bookshelf. When I'm traveling I put a few of my favorites in a CD booklet. I've never had scratching problems or anything.

I picked up a couple wall mounted 60 disk CD holders at Goodwill a while back. The only drawback is that they won't hold the multi-disk cases.

All of mine sit on shelves in the original box. For the few that I didn't get the box, I put them in plastic cases.

PSX - Most are always kept in their jewel cases and stored in a couple of cheap CD towers/racks I got at thrift stores. Some of the multi-disc games that wouldn't fit on the racks are stored on another shelf and the only longbox game I own right now (Destruction Derby) is on another shelf. The two loose games I own (Strikers 1945 and Intelligent Qube) are in slimline cases.
PS2 and Gamecube - All of these games are complete and are stored in DVD towers/racks.

Nearly all of my disc based games are in their original cases, so this is a moot point. I store the cases in boxes or tupperware containers, which are separated by system.
If I don't have the original case, I'll use the following methods:
-regular cd jewel case for Sega CD, 3DO, Saturn, PS1 and Dreamcast games
-cd slimcase, only if I don't have a regular case
-regular dvd case for PS2 and GameCube games, if I don't have those then I will use a cd case until I find a good dvd case for those type of games
Last Resort: plastic cd case (like you see used with some computer discs, found at Staples) or a paper sleeve (also used with some computer discs).

I like to buy games that already have their own case if possible and put the cd games in one of the 4 sided turning cd rack that I own. What ever cd games, I don't have case for, I use the slim cd cases.
Dvd games-Normal Racks of them with them kept in their orginal cases.

I would advise against using the CD sleeves unless you're missing the packaging and the game isn't worth much AND it's already scratched up. That's all I use those CD folders for.
I prefer to have CD games complete, but if I only have the manual I'll chuck it into a generic case. If I have nothing but the disc but it's still in good shape and it's got some actual worth (whether monetary or personal) I'll use a slim case. Beat up Madden gets the CD folder. :P
Just make sure that you're stacking your cases vertically or the manuals may sink down and get warped.

I keep my stuff in their cases. The games are just kept in CD/DVD towers normally. When I moved out to Chicago a few years ago from the Bay Area, I did load my PS2/XBox games into CD wallets (I'd actually been storing them in wallets for a few years due to College Dorming) and brought them out with me.
I only reccomend CD wallets that DON'T have top parts to the sleeves. In other words there is no plastic lip that goes over the top of the disc that you need to move to pull your disc in and out. Those plastic sleeves will scratch the discs if you pull them in and out a bunch (or are moving them because the discs are kept alphabetically). If you do go a CD Wallet route, spend the money on a good brand. It's worth it. I personally reccomend Case Logic stuff.

I have some PC program installation discs in a freebie wallet sure....but how often will I whip those out?
Games/CD's/DVD's all go in their original case or a slim CD case as a last resort. I'm paranoid that those CD wallets/cases will scratch up my discs, and I value my disc media too much to risk that.

I do the same with my PSX games, but at 220 plus games it starts to take up space so I will have to find another place to put them. I am also running into the same problem with my DVDs as well.

CD/DVD towers. I'm also of the mindset that disc games need to be complete, but on the occasion that the game is loose, I'll just put the disc in one of those slim-CD cases. They're also good for bootlegs. ;)
And for uniformity's sake, I've started labeling them with a small Brother label printer.

I store all my games on bookshelf type shelves and for the cd games I normally cut a square or bubble wrap and place it on the middle of the cd to keep it from coming loose. Especially if some of the teeth are broken in the ring that the cd fits on.
As for sega cd or satrun I keep then in the original cases as well and if I dont have a piece of foam I will but bubble wrap and fold it over till I can get a snug fit when the case closes.
Also I remember seeing a projec where you can download and print inserts for sega cd games and slip them into dvd cases. I may go to that method.

I'm all about those black Video Matic storage drawers (I have four so far). I love the way they hold the jewel cases and how you can flip through them (after removing the little trays, of course). They stack nicely (but don't interlock) and I even put my Vectrex on top of one. Quite handy.

I have a shelf I bought from CHKD awhile back to hold my Saturn games, a large bookshelf where at the bottom I stack the PSX titles, then there's a CD tower that holds DC cases, and finally a CD rack that mainly holds PC jewel cases. I try to avoid loose CD games but sometimes they just come with orders or you find that rare or expensive game in a sleeve and can't pass it up for $1.
I wanted to do this last week, but apparently I suck so it might be done this week, which is moving some games around. I wanted to put my Saturn games at the top of my bookshelf where PS2 & GC games currently sit and move the PSX games to the Saturn shelf so they aren't stacked. I really hate stacking jewel cases atop one another and wouldn't dare do that with Saturn cases.

I line'em up like books on a shelf in their cases... I thought about getting a tower, but most of my PSX games are multi-disk/specially boxed RPGs.
Now... GBA games, I have problems storing/displaying... just keepin'em in a shoe box...

There are these Allsop CD organizers.... They still sell em new, but I've been finding them all over the place for a dollar. They're stackable. They have teeth instead of specific jewel case slots, so you can fit double sized CD jewel cases (PSone RPG godsend), and even DS cases, perfectly.
You can even flip the top over so the teeth aren't gripping down, and you have a nice little shelf for GBA boxes. (so they don't get crushed by the teeth) Wish I had a pic... I've been using them all over my collection.

Portability is what is important for me. So I'm a binder guy. I use a beefy one that holds 400 disks. Everything disk based goes in there except GC/Wii games. GC disks I keep in the big aluminum system case I got for my Cube awhile back. They go in a GC sized wallet and those 4-disk mini cases for my heavy play stuff (less chance of scuffs). Haven't geared my Wii up to be portable yet so I keep Wii games in their cases on the shelf since it only gets played at home.

really don't suggest putting all your games in a cd folder for 2 reasons.
1) Even though the material is soft it still puts tiny micro scratches on the disc and over time they get they start getting a dull finish. Bad for resale and for playing. You want a bright shiniy surface to reflect the laser back properly. The cd cases "float" the disc and the game doesn't actually touch the plastic. minimal contact preserves them the best!
2) It makes it so easy to steal all of you games in one fell swoop. A cd wallet can just walk away too easy. Someone would actually have to coordinate a robery accomidating a ton of sega cd or saturn games. It happed to my cd case back in high school, and now I'm still left with a ton of empty cases i can't bare to throw away.
