Hey gang!

I got screwed, and now it's your turn to benefit from my misery. To summarize: My wife forgot our anniversary on Wednesday. I was supposed to be at a business convention this weekend, so I couldn't attend PC4 - but the meeting got cancelled, so here I sit instead. And, finally, I have to have my taxes done at 3 p.m. and it's gonna be a doozy.

So, I propose a contest. First up, here's the prize. The "Sonic Boom" audio CD from Sega. THis CD soundtrack contains music (only) from the games Sonic CD and Sonic Spinball. It was also only available to folks who pre-ordered Sonic 3, so it's a pretty rare little collectable.

(CD, although scuffy-looking, has never skipped and plays just fine.)

This is one of my favorite videogame soundtracks, so I'll be giving it away to one lucky soul - hence, you get to screw me too.

Here's the contest: Post what you think me and the mizzus are gonna owe Uncle Sam when the taxes are done today. Chris and I file jointly and have a combined gross income of more than $50,000+ (I won't say how much more than that though.) Do not figure in state or local taxes. This is just a straight guess on how much a married couple with that income filing jointly will end up paying. I won't give you any deductions or hints either.

Post your guesses as to "US taxes owed" below. The person who comes closest WITHOUT GOING OVER wins the CD. Only one guess per person and the contest ends when I return to post the final damages (hopefully around 5 p.m. my time, though it may be later tonight).

Good luck and SCREW ME! :D

I'll guess...$210. That's roughly how much I owed and I seem to be in your tax bracket. Hard to say without knowing what kind of deductions you're taking though... :hmm:

I'm ready to post the amount and a winner guys. When the smoke finally cleared, me and the mizzus ended up owing:

$226

The closest to that amount without going over also happens to be the first guess in the contest. TRITOCH wins with a guess of $210. If Tritoch will PM an address, I'll mail off the prize! THanks for playing and stay tuned. More giveaways will be forthcoming!

Thanks for the info, Sniderman. If you don't mind, I'm adding you and your wife to a list I made up of 'people I'll probably ask to borrow money from'. Along with you two, I have on here, Mario Lemieux, Jack Nicholson, Oprah Winfrey, Kobe Bryant, Anna Nicole Smith, Richie Rich, and Ebenezer Scrooge.

I'm kinda in a tight financial spot right now. Seeing as how the other people on the list have private security, or just fictional characters, I'll be paying you a visit tomorrow. Thanks and the have the money ready. :-D
