Disgaea: Hour of Darkness
Persona
River City Ransom EX
Trama Center

and many, many more.

The company has published some pretty tight games, wouldn't you say? Discuss Atlus games, ask questions about Atlus games, all things Atlus games. I'm a bit a Atlus verision, myself. I only own two games that the company has published, Super Valis IV and Riviera: The Promised Land. Looking to expand my library of Atlus titles.

I own Persona 2 and got it pretty cheap on e-bay 2 years ago. Just went on e-bay and saw this (http://cgi.ebay.com/Persona-2-Eternal-Punishment-PS1-or-PS2-RARE-COMPLETE_W0QQitemZ190112561844QQihZ009QQcategoryZ6 2053QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem). If it's complete and in good condition, that's one hell of a deal my friend.

With Double Dragon Advance, Atlus helped restore the Double Dragon series to glory (or at least respectability) after years of terrible sequels and lousy home ports. Truth is it was one of the only really good home versions of the game aside from the Sega Genesis port.

Persona 2 for $20.00 isn't that great of a deal. I know Gamestop sold new copies of this game back in Summer 2005 for around $30.00 as well as new copies of Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure. Atlus has released some great games over the years. I wish some of their PS1 library had larger production runs. Anyways, I can't wait to get Persona 3 this summer and Odin Sphere.

I own some games by them:
I Own Double Dragon Advance, Crusader of Centy, River Ransom City Ex, Super Vailus, Revelations: persona, Persona 2: Eternal Punishment, Revelation: The Demon Slayer, luffia: The Ruins of Lore,Tactics Ogre: The Knight of Lodis.

I somehow got my hands on a loose copy of Crusader of Centy 10 years ago at the Funco Land at Mall of America for $15.00 while on vacation. I consider them as a good publisher that is under the rador.

Been trying to find that game. Didn't they only release like 18 copies? I'm afraid that when I finally do come across a copy, I'll have to pay out the butt just to get it.

How was Ogre Battle on the N64? Been trying to find that one as well.

Run Saber. Best console-only Strider ripoff ever, and I have to thank Atlus for bringing it to the US.

"Crusader of Centy" is a good Zelda clone and I love the game....

but my heart really belongs to "Rockin' Kats" on the NES.

Thank you for those games Atlus!

Nobody seems to know about Hellnight [AKA Dark Messiah], 1 of the finest, and most innovative, horrors ever the grace the PS1.

Atlus released it in the EU, not the US. It's a must play for horror fans.

For a publisher, they've released alot of games that's pleased me greatly. I'm still missing a number of games they've released as the early releases tend to be hard to find. The new stuff is still fairly common but being out of work tends to limit my available funding.

I don't own that many:

Blazeon (SNES)
ChoroQ (PS2)
Riviera: The Promised Land (GBA)

Atlus has been my favorite company for years. Ever since one of the best games ever created... Skygunner for the ps2 was released. One of the greatest games ever.

Did anyone mention Pieces for snes? Another great game.

Tsugunai: Atonoment was also kick ass.

I am such a atlus fan I can't wait to get that tennis game for ps2 cause I know if atlus made it I can assume it's good.

If it weren't for Atlus, we'd probably have missed out on a lot of great games.

RadiantSvGun, you seen new copies of Double Dragon Advance all the time? Interesting. I haven't seen a new or a used copy since the game was released. Supposed to be the best home version of Double Dragon.

I wish they'd bring the rest of the River City Ransom games over here. I really enjoyed RCR EX.

I thank them for bringing it to the U.S. too, especially since the Japanese never got it...

Another one of those Japanese developed games that was never released in Japan.

You don't say. I never knew that... wonder why that was so?

Atlus is supposed to be releaseing some sort of action RPG for the PS2 at the end of May. Plays in 2D but has some slick visuals. I heard about it on Saturday. Can't think of the name, though.

Phantom Brave was another good Atlus game, wasn't it? I hear it was similar to Disgaea, which I've yet to play. My Meijer dropped Disgaea 2 to $30 so I need to jump on that while I can.

I've got a few Atlus games... Steambot Chronicles for the PS2 is far and away my favorite (as well as my favorite game of 2006).

Definitely looking forward to Odin Sphere as well.

Only problem with Atlus, is the short supply... and the prices rarely go down... but, for a publisher devoted to more niche titles... they're great!

Someone was selling both of those games in the Buy/Sell forums earlier today.

Double Dragon Advance is best described as a remake of Double Dragon. You get everything from the arcade version in there, with much better graphics and sound. Since the first game was SO short, there are a bunch of new levels and enemies thrown in. It uses things (enemies/stage designs and music) from the first 2 Double Dragon games, a little from Super Double Dragon (SNES) and a lot of all new things. Don't know if they lifted much from Double Dragon 3 but that one sucked anyway.

If you are a real DD fan then the best straight port of the original Double Dragon arcade game can be found on the Sega Genesis and it runs about the same amount of money, maybe a little more, as Double Dragon Advance. The graphics and music are pretty much arcade perfect and the gameplay is a little faster (no real slowdown) compared to the arcade. The only drawbacks are bad sound effects and sloppy controls (though the arcade version didn't control 100% smoothly either).

Odin Sphere! I think that's the game I was referring to!

Yes, prices on Atlus game are kinda up there, even for some used titles. I've seen used, complete copies of the first Disgaea go for $40 at GameStop. Then I've seen used/new complete copies of Phantom Brave go for $18-$20.

I never should have traded in Oger Battle on the PSX.

Phantom Brave and Disgaea are all Nippon Ichi. Developed by them of course, but also published by them. I think the only connection these games have with Atlus is distribution.

The first Disgaea was published statesside by ATLUS. It wasn't until after the success of that particular title that Nippon Ichi launched their own American branch to handle localizations.

Yeah, at 19.99.... I need to pick one up. If you like the river city ransom/renegade stuff, you need to check out Shin Nekketsu Kouha - Kunio-tachi no Banka on SFC.

Oh, Super Dodge ball advance on GBA... Awesome!

SMT: Nocturne, Digital Devil 1 + 2, Persona 1 + 2, are all great Atlus games. Atlus is right up there with square-enix, in my opinion, for the two greatest game companies out there right now.

I'll toss in two no one has talked about yet:

Contact is nice. It's an acquired taste: and I mean that in the most non-pretentious sense as humanly possible. Earthbound charm with a Diablo-ish point-here-click-there battle system. 4th wall SMASH!

Trauma Center: Under the Knife is another. Kinda like "Life and Death Lite", and I'm basing that comment off of not playing Life and Death for almost 15 years. Puts the fun part, that would be the surgery, in the forefront and delegates the other boring doctor related stuff, that would be the non-surgery, to the little text adventure sitting in the background. Difficult to play laying in bed or sideways on the couch. Then again, surgery isn't something you should perform lying down.

Remember kids. Buy Atlus games brand new on the day of launch. Otherwise risk never seeing them in real life again!

Did Atlus publish the NES version of Super Dodge Ball? The day I finally saw a copy of that game, Funcoland wanted $19.99 for it. Was the GBA version, Super Dodge Ball Advance actually better?

I see loose copies of Super Dodge Ball Advance quite a bit around here. Unless you have to own a complete copy, it's not hard to track down.

And the NES version was published by CSG Imagesoft in the US.

Run Saber. Best console-only Strider ripoff ever, and I have to thank Atlus for bringing it to the US.

Not to mention much better than Strider Returns could ever dream to be. Heh...

I'm not sure that I've seen the Power Instinct series mentioned yet here, and I can guess why. It's not the finest fighting series, as the first game lacks the refinement of most Capcom and SNK titles, the second game is WAY too balls hard for its own good (not to mention there are actual balls and something hard in it :puke: ), and Groove On Fight is just generally obscure. The early games in the series didn't have much going for it except for the big WTF factor.

However, the PI series evolved into the incredible Matrimelee, so this is why I must give it its due. :D

I'd say Atlus is an underground company comparable to those like Treasure and Compile: They may not be as recognized as others, but you can expect quality from anything they produce.
