Our expectations were far exceeded for Sat night's event; our own estimates show that around 110% of RSVP's attended! Thank you, everyone! The next one will be around late Sept, and ideas are being bandied about.
Why can't we do these more often? Personal lives, folks, and there's a consensus within all the planning council that we'd rather do more memorable mets of high quality and keep up the standard, than slap together a 'meh' meet once every-other month. We hope you understand.
Highlights:
"Uncle Steve's Ghetto Drive-In": we got some 2" PVC Pipe and vinyl-coated muslin and made an outdoor projection screen. TRON was the show of the night, and there were several requests for 'Joysticks'. That'll be at the next one, folks, as a late-night offering. There'll be some other things as well!
Arcade games: Steve (Shertz here on DP) has once again opened up his collection of arcade games for play. Out of all these, was the only known dedicated Zzyzzyxx machine! It's a fun game, once you give it a few tries, sorta a Frogger derivative.
Guitar Hero Room: All GH, all the time. This room didn't stop from start to finish. GH is a Classic waiting in the wings.
HDTV MAME: Rob W brought his Linux box, and Tankstick. It was like watching a moving EPSON print, folks, really. Beautiful.
DDR Frogger: MAME Frogger with a DDR pad hooked up. Really messed up, really fun. Try it sometimes, kids! Reminded me of 'Joyboard Combat" from our older meets.
Warlords $1 Tournament: Steve's cocktail Warlords machine became a top draw once the sun went down. Someone made a bit a cash after it was all said and done.
For dessert, Rob W. brought the much-threatened Custer's Revenge cake! Containing a tasty custard filling (you may now groan or go "Ewwww!" now), somehow he was able to slip it past the Albertson's bakery.

..even though the pic of my butt is in there too.. :6
