well i finally got a PS2 but the people said it was burned up. I plugged it in and it worked with my tekken three but the game they had in it didn't work. this cd was scratched so i think that may be the problem. how can i tell if the PS2 is really burned up or not? and if it is what can i do other than buy a new one cause ive kinda got all my money spent elsewhere.

the easiest way is to do a PS2 stress test-
find a blue disc game (the first madden game on the ps2 should do the trick from what i remember)
find a silver game (almost all ps2 games are on standard dvds)
find a gold game (dual layered dvd based- god of war 2, gta san andreas...)
find a ps1 game
find a dvd movie

if you can play each of these types of disc without issues, and don't have any problems within an hour or so of use, the system is good.

If you still have problems simply rmeove the top of the ps2 and clean the dust of the laser with a lint free cloth and alcohol.
