Not in the US, as far as I'm aware. There's literally dozens of releases across the PlayStation, Dreamcast, and PS2 in Japan, though.

I wouldn't recommend playing the DC version with the standard pad, though. :-/

Yeah, I got one of those Desktop Arcade controllers too and they're pretty good. Only paid $135 for mine though since I got it used (has LED's too!). I hear it's pretty easy to make your own though and only costs around $80-$100 for all the parts.

There's absoultely loads. Your best bet is PS2. I have a DesktopArcade (.com) arcade style controller and it's wonderful (Was around $250 with LEDs, custom painting and everything). If you're really hardcore and don't have $250 to blow, you can learn how to play it on a dual shock 2, i've seen some VERY impressive videos of people playing PnM with a dual shock :)

I'd strongly recommend against the mini-pop'n controller (Runs around $30-50 now I think). It's nothing like the arcade and is very cramped.

DG : I actually just got my first PS2 about a month ago...but how would u play it if there are no US releases ? Is there a way to play imports on my machine.....

I got a desktoparcade.com controller (custom paint, no LED's) for the wife last christmas, and though its a little big it really the way to go in my opinion.

Chu:
There are numerous Japanese PS/DC/PS2 Pop'N games. I want to say that the PS has 6, PS2 has 8 and DC has 3 or 4.

There are a few ways to get to play Japanese games. I went the most legit (and easiest in my opinion) route and bought a Japanese PS2 and just go to town. There are numerous boot devices out there as well that will trick your system into playing the games, or you get a mod chip. There are others here that are much more versed in this route than I however so i'll refrain from speaking too much about it.

Well, if you only want the music, you'll note that DDR [far more commonly found] will always incorporate a number of Pop songs.

Nope, not into DDR... My feet don't move like that. lol

Can you hook up a JAP PS2 without an adapter of some sort ? I think i would probably go the "boot disk" route since i'm sure it would be a lot less expensive...how much do they run ?

You certainly can.

There's also the HDLoader option for playing imports on the system, though I've been away from that scene for a while, so I have no idea how they all work now.

Why of course, Japanese stuff is NTSC-J, and runs on the same power requirements that we do here in America, not to mention standard televisions. All you need to do is just plug the system in and play. But they are way more expensive than a boot disc is, even with a good deal on a used system.

Or you can get a modded PS2. That's the best way to go IMO if you want to play imports.
