Do you know this game?

I am looking for a game I played quite a few years ago, probably around 2000. I don't remember a lot about it, I believe most of it was in a rainforest/jungle setting, but I think there might have been some underground bonus levels or something. I also think the the main character was an animal of some sort (maybe a monkey or big cat).

It is too well known of a game that this is probably wrong but was it Sonic Adventure? Part of it takes place in that type of setting. There are several "animal" characters and one of them is a big cat.

That description fits about a million different games. Could be Donkey Kong 64 for all we know.

If it was a bit later it could have been Starfox Adventures? All I can think of for the setting, before I read the Donkey Kong 64 post anyway.
