What do you guys think is the best console bowling game? The only one that even sticks out in my mind is the Intellivision bowling game that I spent a ton of time playing while growing up. Who can forget those lovely sound effects? I don't remember being blown away by any other home bowling games, which ones should I check out?

Not console, but the Simpson's Bowling arcade game is pretty fun.

You should try bowling, and not at a bowling alley......

Does Wii Sports Bowling count?

I'd have to go with Ten Pin Alley or Brunswick Circuit Pro Bowling for the Playstation. I played a ton of both of these games. Both games had a good control scheme and nice sound effects.

I agree with Nick. PSX Ten Pin Alley was flat out playable, fun and amazingly addicting. My bro and I used to play that and compete all the time. I think I bowled an average of 215-ish or so. I created "Large Marge" from Pee-Wee's Big Adventure, lol. She was my girl! One of the characters seriously looked like Large Marge. I like how you could change the skin color of the bowlers too. Very customizable and loads o' fun.

BTW, the Saturn version was pretty damn inferior. The graphics took a HUGE hit, and the ball physics was actually different. Pissed me off, lol

I have to agree with other posts. Ten Pin Alley for PSX is by far the best. It's well made and it's fun.

Ten Pin was great ... I still play it on my PS cab once in a while.

I think League Bowling [ Neo Geo ] is probably a little more fun though, espicially for multiple people at one time.

The best I've played:

Bowling (2600)
Brunswick World Tournament of Champions (SNES)
Strike Force Bowling (PS2/GCN/Xbox)
Wii Sports Bowling (Wii, obviously)

I've also heard good things about Super Bowling (SNES) and Animaniacs Ten Pin Alley (PSX), but haven't had a chance to try them out.

Come to think of it, are there any decent bowling games on the Game Boy, GBC, and/or GBA?

Why are we having this discussion. Wii Sports Bowling is the end all of Bowling games.

I did like Championship Bowling for the NES, and Ten Pin Alley for the PS.
However Ten Pin Alley for the GBA was horrible.

2600 Bowling is a personal favorite. In the last few months I've also become a fan of a Genesis/Megadrive import title called Boogie Woogie Bowling. It's pretty cool as well.

Most of my faves have already been named...

Wii Sports Bowling, Ten Pin Alley, Super Monkey Ball Bowling (sucker for challenge mode), Brunswick for the PSX (I preferred #2, thought the pin physics were better).

Championship Bowling - an XBox / PS2 budget game that came out in 2006. It isn't perfect by any means, but dang it if I didn't have a lot of fun with this one.

There has not been a good Game Boy bowling game in my opinion. The best may be Romstar World Bowling, but it's still not very good. I would settle for a port of Championship Bowling from the Gen, or Super Bowling from the SNES. Maybe someday.

And I don't really like the Animaniacs Ten Pin Alley...especially when you're bowling a 300, and the Godpigeons take your last ball, and pull it from the center of the lane right into the gutter. Just that happening once was enough for me to shelve the game.

A topic near and dear to my heart, this is :)

Tekken Bowl (mini-game on Tekken Tag Tournament) is really fun - I've probably played it more than the main game.

I'll vote for Wii Sports bowling

I own the GBA version. It's a good way to kill a few minutes, and I'll probably wind up playing a round or two every Christmas. But it doesn't really have any teeth beyond that.

Alright, I'm taking Animaniacs off of my interest list - that's pretty lame. I'll have to check out Romstar World Bowling if I can track it down - even if it's not very good, I'm curious about it now.

Mentioning anything other that Wii Sports Bowling is only showing that you actually remember those games' titles. When it came out with the Wii, Nintendo pretty much said "I'll be King of the bowling games, now, thank you (until someone makes a better one for the Wii)."

Wii Sports is definitely the most realistic and interactive bowling video game.

I also enjoyed Bowling for the Atari 2600.

the Godpigeons, only showed up randomly...and not in every game you bowl, but when it happened right then...I decided I was done with it. Although bowling with Brain in the human suit was fun for a while. It was a definite step down from the regular Ten Pin Alley though.

The bowling mini-game in Pac-Man Fever has stolen many hours of my life.

The only ones that I'm familiar with are:

Bowling (Atari 2600)
PBA Bowling (Intellivision)
Bowling (Fairchild Channel F)
Apple Bowl (Apple ][)

They are all pretty fun and have their own appeal.

Quoted For Truth. Wii Sports Bowling rapes all other bowling games really hard in the butthole, PERIOD.

Wii Sports Bowling is good. Only good. It doesn't have leagues, tournaments, different ball types, changing / different oil patterns...if the Brunswick game adds all this stuff in, and improves the physics just a bit...it will be the perfect bowling game.

Somehow I am imagining it will still leave me wanting.

Animaniacs Ten Pin Alley was a good one, Wii Sports Bowling was good, and the mini game in Tekken Tag was good. top 3 that i have played in my opinion.

Speaking of arcade bowling games, you need to check out Silver Strike 2007 Bowler's Club if you haven't done so already. Incredible Technologies gives away $3,000 every week in the weekly sweepstakes and a huge monthly prize at the end of every month. This month's monthly drawing for a new 2007 mustang is this Friday May 25th.

Wii Sports Bowling is a direct swipe on the Xavix game console's Bowling game. I prefer the Xavix game because you not only have a small bowling ball to swing instead of a Wiimote, and it's got several variations that Wii Bowling doesn't. The puzzle game is a great one, where you have to throw bowling balls to knock blocks out of the way as they fall from the top of the screen before they stack up too high.

Nester's Funky Bowling for VB is my fav. I hear Virtual Bowling is good too but I never have an extra $1,000 laying around to buy a copy.

2600 bowling and Super Monkey Ball bowling are pretty good too.

Awesome :D I have a love/hate thing for those bowling challenges. Fun, yet some are hard as hell.

I like alot of the games already mentioned; Wii Sports: Bowling, Monkey Ball and Ten Pin Alley are the major stand outs. I'd like to add Clubhouse Games on the DS for the bowling game on it. It's really fun, easy to set up (thanks to single pak dl play) but, has limits. All your throws are straight-balls with no curving element/control. Great for a quick pick-up and play, although it gets old. At least their are 40 other games to play after that. :)

That would be my favorite as well, although emulation is probably the only way I'll ever get to play it.

The budget PS2 game Strike Force bowling is a great bowling game for the cheap price (<$5).
