Resident Evil 4 for PC. Release date: 16 MAY 2007.

I’ll get this out of the way…I am a Resident Evil fan-boy. As much as I hate the term, I will buy (and usually enjoy) anything related to the RE series. That being said…

I bought Resident Evil 4 for the PC last Thursday…and it is incredible. For those that have only heard bad things, the US version comes with the lighting and texture patch included (the European version was originally lacking these critical items).

Using the highest resolution, the PC version looks infinitely better than the PS2 version (of which the PC version is a port of). There are also quite a few sequences that rival the Gamecube version graphically. Cut scenes are a different story. There is an ongoing effort to replace these ugly, muddy movies with high-res versions. There is no doubt that with future mod’s from the online community…the PC port will be the definitive version of Resident Evil 4.

As with most PC games of late, a 360 controller is preferred. There are patches that change the keyboard hot keys on screen to the corresponding 360 controller buttons. A simple switch of the “X” and “A” button mapping will change the control scheme to the Gamecube style. Anyone who’s played the PS2 version after playing the GC version knows what a big deal this is.

Overall, it’s an excellent port…especially considering that it’s only $19.99.

Nobody cares it was sappose to be a GCN nintendo exculsive but Capcom wanted differ. Shinji alomost killed himself after hearing the decision. The thing is Resident was his creation but Capcom owns the rights.

Screw Capcom anything now with the new Capcom is like the New China. They took there own people and threw them out in the streets for petty cash after destroying there homes to put up another StarBucks.

The thing is Resident Evil was his creation but Capcom owns the rights.

That is exactly what Marvel did to Stan Lee. He created something wonderous and grand only to be left with the News Paper colum and Movie rights. Which is the only reason why we see Stans face all over the place and probably when they were making the Fantastic Four and Iron Man Cartoons.

Wait, why exactly does it have cutscenes at all? The GC cutscenes were entirely real time. Even though this game is based of the PS2 revision which has pre-rendered cut-scenes, you'd think they'd have still gone with real time.

Why does ANY of this matter?

Well one thing you could have responded early besides derailing the thread and the thing is if all you look at is the product and not the people behind the product then your buying Trash.

I'm usually not intrigued by PC ports of popular console titles, but this one doesn't sound half bad. I'm interested to see this one in action-and PC versions can become sought-after if they're better than the original offering.

You can't really go wrong for $20. I bought it with low expectations and was pleasantly surprised on how solid the final package ended up being. Keep in mind, that I consider RE4 to be one of the best games of all time (and I'll be buying the Wii version on release day). Anyway, with a decent (not top of the line) computer, and a 360 controller, this game is a lot of fun.

The PS2 version was a great port -with damn good graphics I might add- and my favorite version overall at least until the Wii ver.

I wonder sometimes if everyone who downs the PS2 version of RE4 has ACTUALLY PLAYED IT.

I never really did catch on the to PS2 version the way i did the GC version. Maybe it's just me, but the GC controller is prefect for RE, the Dual Shock just has too many buttons and a less effienct shape.

I almost got the PS2 version the other month, limited metal case edition too. Passed up on it because it lacked the bonus DVD, lightly scratched play disc and those sticker things were gone. Even for the $5 they were asking it just wasn't worth it to me.

Personally however I'd just prefer to get all of the RE games on the GC just because you can.

semi OT-
RE4 Wii - is this a port of the Ps2 version? or a GC port with the PS2 bonus content? any new, console-exclusive content?

Interesting...I will have to check this out. Methinks I will like it better on the wii with component cables and a 61 inch screen.
