Don't all Weezer songs consist of just 2 alternating chords? Talk about easy. Still is a good song though.

Important thing to note is all the Bys instead of As Made Famous Bys. Master tracks means a lot more entertaining experience. Some of the horrible "covers" on GHII distracted me to the point of avoiding some songs.
Paint it Black by The Rolling Stones is already better than the whole licensed track list on GHII combined.

Yeah, that one I bet will be easy, though it does have that little soloish bit at the beginning. I think "Say It Aint So" would have been a better Weezer pick.
We need more longer rock tracks like Freebird though. I tell ya, nothing would be awesomer that jamming to a full length version of 2112.
And throw something in off Quadrophenia and some 60's psych rock for good measure.

Looks like I'm changing my decision to a "no thanks" if they change the colors and re-map the buttons. I had enough trouble getting decent at the regualr version, I'm not learning it all over again/buying another guitar (we already have 2) this fall.
Way to loose a sale neversoft. Ever hear "if it ain't broke. . ."

I could care less if they make the buttons a different color or shape as long as you can use your old guitar. But if they are re-designing the controller and game completely so it'll be incompatible, I'll pass too. That's just blatant fucking greed.

If you don't want to buy a new guitar, just put colored stickers or tape over the old buttons. Ugly, but functional.

If that's all it takes fine, it'll piss me off that I'll have to wrap my head around another set of colors, but the way I read the article was that the old guitars won't work.

Very under-whelming to me.
I wonder if they'll try to force xBox 360 owners into buying the whole game for $55 instead of just letting them purchase the new tracks online. I doubt that the game play itself will be significantly different so I can't see any reason other than greed to not to offer the tracks separately.

Agreed 100%. You can't imagine how disappointed I was when I first found out that the songs on the GH games were just covers and not by the original artists. I haven't purcahsed #2 because of this.

At first I thought, "new button design?! WTFBBQ!"
But, then I thought about it....what if they added a sixth button ...or two rows of buttons? They'd surely be getting closer to a real guitar that way. Sure, it would be more difficult, but GHII wasn't really that hard. There were only 5 or so songs I actually had any trouble on in Expert. I didn't go for 5 stars or anything, but just beating it wasn't that hard.
Guitar Hero 10 will be played on a real guitar if they were to keep adding shit heh heh.

Strange...I saw something on G4 on AOTS, either in the feed segment or on the ticker that scrolls the bottom of AOTS, that the first band to be confirmed for GH3 was Queens of the Stone Age...yet they are not listed here. This was probably about 2-3 weeks ago.

Hell yeahz FOGHAT. REALLY excited about Cult of Personality! That's gotta be one of the last songs. Muse, Tenacious D, Beastie Boys. Lots of cool tracks so far. I much prefer the Heart song in this game as well.
Wow. Consider me doubly disappointed. A bunch of crap songs and I have to buy a new guitar? I'll be anxiously waiting to hear what the rest of the tracks are, but there had better be some killers on there or I'm definitely passing (and I"m not talking about the band obviously LOL).

Personally, I thought the covers on GHI were quite good. Very few being totally off the mark.
Guitar Hero II, on the other hand, seemed rushed in that department and just made whoever was in the studio that day take a crack at sounding like Kurt Cobain, David Bowie, or Zack De La Rocha.
I also seriously doubt that GHIII will not support existing guitars. That's alienating too large a fan base. I do know that an effects petal is going to be coming on though. We'll see where that heads.

I'm wondering how much of the color hubbub comes from Harmonix leaving? Maybe they had some kind of rights on that part of the controls or something.
Dunno for sure, just throwing it out there.
For what it's worth, I couldn't tell you which color was which button, so it makes little difference to me.
Songs look great so far to me.

After rereading the press release...
"The exclusive Gibson guitars will include innovative features such as removable faceplates that will allow fans to later personalize their guitars and make it their own, and a new button color design that will be integrated for an even greater authentic feel and rock experience."
To me, that just suggests the guitar will have a new button color design option...not the game itself. Kinda sounds like Joystiq fumbled the wording a bit IMO. Maybe we can all keep calm heads, and wait for more actual details...

Having just started into GH2 (and never having played the first one), I must agree some of the covers are horrid..."Mother" I'm looking at you (couldn't you have just paid Danzig off in dumbells and Rogaine to use the original song).
What I really, really, really want in either GH3 or Rock Band is the chance to play some Sunn O))) stuff....

Yeah, it seems strange that they couldn't get the real vocals for Mother, especially since the song is used in two others that I know offhand. The vocals for Laid to Rest are horrible as well.

Yeah, but if they're using the GH1 track pricing, you'd be better off just buying the disc.

I'd like to buy Guitar Hero III, thank you very much. I would not like to buy downloadable content for Guitar Hero II.
I think everyone is jumping the gun on the guitar issue here, too. We have zero information other than an ambiguously worded teaser. Let's all just wait and see what the deal is before we go accusing Neversoft/Activision/Red Octane of being money hungry demons who ruined Guitar Hero.

Oh my fucking god, I am set to buy this. Raining Blood AND One? Yes, yes, and more yes. Also, some Mountain is always appreciated. Lets just hope the in house cover of Mississippi Queen comes out better than Ozzy's cover....
Also, I understand how you did that. Album = Reign in Blood, song = Raining Blood. As far as Slayer goes, I would've enjoyed seeing something a little less known, like Seasons in the Abyss, Skeletons of Society, or The Antichrist. Or maybe something different, like Angel of Death or something.
But why in the world they pick Rock and Roll All Night is beyond me. There are a million better KISS songs they could've picked. Detroit Rock City, God of Thunder, Parasite, Watchin' You, She, Deuce, Black Diamond, Shock Me, Strange Ways, and so on. Also, who would've liked to have seen Metal Militia on here? Thats a personal favorite.

Funny that you say that, because I'm about 99% sure that's going to be a Rock Band song.
However, I'll definetly be buying both. Cherub Rock? Fucking radical. My Name is Jonas? God damn. Excellent songs right there. I heard the bass heavy Suck My Kiss is in it too by Chili Peppers.
Are they still planning on making you buy a new guitar for this game? If not, then I take back what I said before and this will be one of the first game I buy on release in years. One, Raining Blood, Number of the Beast? Awesome.

It'll be sold in bundle and non-bundle form.
I'm becoming more and more convinced that this will be the far better of the two big music games coming out this fall. I can't wait!

I knew it would be a matter of time before they changed the guitar.
IMHO, I saw GH2 amd GH: Encore like that way I saw GTA:VC and GTA:SA. Sure there were a few cool changes that made the game fun, but they need to up the anty.
Everyone is getting upset about needing to buy a new guitar, but it is the same thing as DDR games: how many times do you need to use the same mat until you get tired of it.
If all you are looking for is new songs, then hopefully XBL can hook you up, but I think it is a good move, as it is time for a good change.
I am all for a new guitar, they need to put more in besides new songs. If everybody just wants new songs, maybe they will keep releasing GH2: encore disks until the end of time, but if not, we might as well embrace this change. These guys make cool and fun games, so I put faith in them (I even enjoyed amplitude, which seriously felt like GH in a spaceship).
You never know, they could do something crazy like make it so that in rock band, there is a lead guitar and bass guitar and they use different guitars. That would make alot of sense. Maybe they are prepping everybody for rock band, who knows.
I definately support this move. GH series has been super fun so far, but I am ready for a change, and it sounds like they are doing just that.
