I collect all game-related VHS's...
Stumbled upon a couple things i did'nt know about lately, and i thought it might make an interesting topic...

First off...has anyone ever seen this one...?
http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w304/Nesophile/Video%20game%20related%20pix/Gametapepic2.jpg

It's only Mario 2 tips...nothing else.
Saw this in a lot of old VHS's on Ebay and snagged it about a week ago.

Also...
Box variation discovered...

Anybody aware of any more of these...?

Lastly, does anyone know what games Vol. 1 #9 covers ? I have Volume 1/#'s 1-12 excluding only this one, and was just curious. If you have this one for sale BTW please LMK...

I rented some kind of game vhs once from the library when I was a youngin. Could have been these, but I don't remember much of it besides a tips section they had on Mega Man II about how to beat Quick Man with the Flash Cannon or whatever it's called (which I still cannot do; I just hit the fire button and it freezes time. I can't shoot or anything until it runs out. Seems like just stalling the battle for no reason to me...)

I would see a whole bunch of these all the time when I was eleven. They would sell then for a dollar each. basically just game tips and so on. Nothing special.

I owned a game tape. It was the one where Sony and Sega kidnapped a Nintendo Employee and threathen to shock a Mario doll.ROFL I would show this to my cousin and we would laugh at it all day long rewinding watching the Mario doll shock and in the vice scene.

No not MarioLOL while the fatty Gayga and bald ponyplaystation man would laugh:drinking: Talk about mud slinging.

Blah blah Starfox

I loved those game tapes, that was fine entertainment for a Nintendo fanboy. They did teach me a few things, but now I watch them and say "What are you doing, man?" Now I can play a lot better than they did!

Someone ought top rip these tapes to a 70 megabyte MP4 file. Make them available to all gamers.

Better yet, whoever owns the rights to these tapes should release them on DVD, with commentary from DP users like XYXZYZ, saying "What the hell are they doing?!"

Or a certain someone who makes angry videos. :p

Anybody know what's on Vol.1-#9 ? Aaaaaannnybody ? lol
Scan if you have it plz.....

I've heard one guy say he had a Vol 1-#14 that had the original Batman on it...but i have'nt found any other proof of this existing. I also just recently learned that there was more than one volume of the Secret Video Game Tips, Codes & Stratagies series. I just managed to get volume 2...in a cut box unfortunately. But apparently there is a Vol.3 & a Special Edition yellow box one as well...

Heh, if you could upload them, say, on youtube, that'd be great. If you do, do post the url to one of the files (or the url to your profile) so we don't end up searching forever...

My YouTube experience consists solely of viewing unfortunately... :(
I don't know what kind of equip. you need to put videos on there.

It's pretty simple. All you need is to digitize your file into one of the following file formats: .WMV, .AVI, .MOV, or .MPG

Then, you need to split your file into shorter files below 10 minutes each. Once that's done, you just go to youtube, click on upload video and follow the instructions.

For digitizing videotapes, the simplest thing is to connect a dual DVD/VCR to a computer, although that's not the only possible method.

Hey Blitzwing, would you be willing to send me a copy of those DVDs? :D I'll pay postage and media costs!

Anyone...?

Since no USB on the DVD/VCR, and no a/v on the compy...i'm expecting some form of adapter would need to be obtained...correct ?

Okay then. Use yousendit.com, which can handle the 70megabyte MP4 videos I mentioned earlier. It's a great way to transmit huge files with no technical expertise required.

Or you can try using Azureus (bittorrent) to share the file.

As for copying the DVD, it's easy if you use your PC's dvd drive. You just need to find a DVD-to-MP4 conversion program to create the files.

But my Gametapes are just that...tapes.
They are'nt on DVD...so would that mean they have to be converted over to a dvd before anything else could happen...?

Yes. Veronicamars_fan obviously didn't read the thread carefully.

Indeed, you need to digitize your videotapes. Only once that done, you can put them online.

Thought you had a VCR-to-DVD machine, but that was someone else.

Sorry.

No, he said he had a dual VCR/DVD player. You can connect one of those babies to your computer and transfer your tapes. That's what my mom does. However, she has a Power Mac G5 and she uses a special video adaptor to connect it to her computer. Now, this is the kind of setup that's more easily done with a PC, simply because there are more PC-compatible products on the market for that.

Would one of these video adapters work with a standard ol' Dell PC ?

Yeah. ADS Technologies have multiple consumer products on the market for that.

Just make sure that you'd go for a product that has the "Capture from analog" feature.
