Hey guys I snagged a TG16 system boxed with Military Madness card & manual for $15 yesterday and I have never had a TG16.

What games are good for it? I like shooters, rpg's, and platformers.

Also if any of you guys have games for sale/trade for it let me know.

I can buy or trade, prefer cart only as I will just play them anyways, don't need to be complete.

Let me know what is worth getting

Hey Jeff, i remember when i got my first TG 16 System and i was asking this exact same question lol, well after lots of talking and buying, ill make this real easy for ya. Here are the BEST games IMO>> You wont go wrong with any of these>

1. Bonks Adventure (Kinda like the mario to nintendo, the bonk games are AWESOME platform games)
2. Bonks Revenge (Excellent better than the first)
3. Bonk III (pretty pricey game but woth every penny, this one offers a 2 player option, where both players can play at the same time)
4. Blazing Lasers (great shooter)
5. Bloody Wolf (VERY Awesome contra style shooter)
6. Devils Crush (one of the most addicting pinball games ever made, a MUST HAVE) (dont let the pinball factor keep you away, i hate pinball games but this is unlike ANY pinball game made. Its a blast.
7. Legend of Hero Tonma (pretty sweet platform/shooter game)
8. NEW Adventure Island (Extremely Awesome Adventure island game, one of the best in the series, youll love it if you like the originals on the NES)
9. Military Madness (AWESOME Game, you already have this one outta the way :-)
10. Legendary Axe (great action adventure game)
11. Legendary Axe 2 (Great action adventure game, better than the first)
12. Raiden (awesome shooter)
13. AIR ZONK (Besides new adventure island, this IS my FAVORITE game for the TG 16, one of the best. Very colorful, and happy shooter)
14. Dragons Curse (pretty sweet adventure game)
15. Neutopia (sorta the TG 16 version of zelda, VERY AWESOME)
16. Neutopia II (never played it but looks awesome and ive heard good things)
17. Splatterhouse (Very cool game, but i honestly never thought it was all that great compared to some of these other TG 16 games, still goo tho.) i like tha famicom version better)
18. Aero Blasters (very Awesome Shooter
19 Sidearms (Very Very Awesome Shooter)
20. R Type (VERY awesome Shooter)
21. Super Star Soldier (almost forgot, very great shooter game)

The TG 16 is a GREAT system man, all their games are very colorful, and the whole idea of everything was WAY ahead of its time. You cant go wrong with any of these games listed. I prolly forgot a few good ones and ill let everyone else fill in the gaps :-)

Good luck dude!

Galaga '90 ('88 if you have a PCE :)) is constantly in my Turbo Duo.

I can second Galaga 90, and a number of those other suggestions.

Bomberman was really good on the TG-16, if you get the multiplayer adapter. Up to 5 people, if I remember!

It may also be worthwhile to seek out the turbo CD and the super system card 2.0 for it, as CD games are region free, and there are a LOT of good turbo cd games. I guess you could get the arcade card instead of the super system 2 if you wanted...but there's not many arcade card games ;p

No mention of Ninja Spirit yet? It's to the TG16 what the Ninja Gaiden games are to the NES and the Shinobi games are to the Genesis.

And I'll definitely second Splatterhouse. :D

Dungeon Explorer is a great multiplayer shooter/action/rpg. Think Gauntlet with rpg elements. My two favorite rpg's for the system believe it or not are the quest modes on World Court Tennis and Final Lap Twin. They are very short but awesome! It's like Dragon Warrior only the random battles are tennis matches or a couple of laps around the track. And instead of buying a new sword or sheild, you buy a new racket or set of tires. If you like rpg's you should definitely check those two out.

Interested in hearing what NOT to get?

Unless you can get them for cheap, I'd avoid any of the sports games on the system including titles such as the TV Sports series. There are a few other sports titles on the TG16 which you can read about right here on the DP reviews page (left hand side). Out of all the sports games released for it, one or two top out at average or mediocre but the rest of them are downright bad.

Vigilante was one that I liked. Even so, I'll admit it is a pretty big dropoff from "better" beat-em up's like Streets of Rage, Final Fight or Double Dragon. If you like the genre, it is fun for awhile. It's just generic. You could safely skip this one, too.

Bloody Wolf and Devil's Crush.

Bloody Wolf is probably the most 80's Action Movie video game ever made.

SHOTGUN MAN - IS THAT YOU MAKING ALL THAT RACKET?

SNAKE - YEA, WHAT OF IT?

what the hell?

wheres the love for dragon's curse???

but seriously, its one of the best games on the system (pretty much a better version of wonderboy 3 on the sms) pretty much a pre-cursor to supermetroid/sotn style gamplay. (well goonies 2ish)

Darius-Plus

In my point of view one of the best side-scrollers of the (early) ninties. It features many different levels, great optics, walkthrough-alternatives, a big arsenal of different weapons, great features of weapon-improvements by collecting colored items...

... and most important: it is greatly programmed and features great GAMEPLAY!

I played this game many times... I always thought to have a much more expensive Video-Game-System when playing Darius Plus.

I had many PC Engine Games...
Many PC-Engine shooters and side-scrollers were really good and and close arcade-converts. Darius Plus stands above all oft them! A marvelous game!!!

Despite all the flack it gets, I actually kinda liked Keith Courage in Alpha Zones

Double Dungeons is a fun "quickie" RPG.

Devil's Crush is inarguably the best game on the system.

Beat Parasol Stars without continuing and a whole new set of worlds open up. The music's different, everything.
