better question for those of you who answered 2k or more, how many of those games you have played for more than 5 minutes

(personally, I am about at the 300 mark and I've only gotten around to about 2/3 of them so far)

Well I am in the neighborhood of 4K and I can honestly say I have probably played 1/10 of them long enough to get a true feeling of the game. For the longest time I was collecting for collecting sake and feel I am just starting to break the habit. There is nothing wrong with just trying to complete a system and own the whole library. What made me realize that I wasn't doing this for what I feel are the right reasons was when I went to the video game store and bought 5 games - all sports - just to throw on a shelf and get closer to owning all the carts. I decided I can spend my money in a more productive manner than just 'wall candy'

I haven't counted in a long time, but it's somewhere around 1500 counting all my PC games. About 500 Genesis games and about 100 or so for each of most of my other systems. I have 12 different systems not counting the PC.

Hello... I am relatively new to video game collecting... actually, I only own a few NES and SNES games, but I always go out and play games with my friedns.... I only have about 10 or so games for my NES, and about 5 for my SNES, but I am looking into expanding my collection and playing tonnes and tonnes of games.... Nice to find a site with ppl who like the games i like (all the oldies)

I stopped counting about 3 1/2 years ago. Before Dreamcast, PS2, GC and XBox. I was over 2500 then. Now I'm probably close to 3000.

I recently hit the 170 mark - I've only gotten 70 games since April? This is tough going....

That's approximately 10 games a month.

How many often does everyone else buy games? And in what quantities?

Last time I truly counted, I was at 239. That was three months ago, and I have been buying about 3-4 games a week. I think I am somewhere around like, 260.

I've got about 200 games in my collection. Mostly TG-16/PCE mixed with about 30 SMS, and 2 PSX games. I used to have a pretty huge collection for other systems, but I never played them so I had to get rid of them. They'd be better serving to somebody who's looking to play. Hey, I think I've got one bad ass game library, and I can't help but smile everytime I look at it, let alone play it. :D

200 games and most of them TG-16/PCE? I would be inclined to agree on its alleged bad-assness.

Me, I just did reach the 150 mark, heavily comprised of NES, Genesis, SNES and a smattering of Master System, TG-16, Gameboy and Atari 2600, etc.

This is my first post, but definetely not my first visit. I figured what better way to present myself to you guys, than to give off the amount of games I own. Since I am posting this from school, I don't have exact numbers, just rough estimates. I consider myself to be a collector, keeping in mind that I literally survive on about 100 dollars a week while in college. What do you guys think? Is my collection total crap, descent. I am curious because there is not one single person around me that is into games like I am, and obviously you guys are. According to all my friends I have way too many games, but according to what you guys have, I don't have enough. I plan to post alot more, but figured this would be a good way to talk with you other collectors.

I'm just about to reach my 1 year anniversary of game collecting.
Started Aug 2003.

I'm in the 500-600 game range right now, including dupes.
Its getting to the point where I'm selective about what I buy, rather than grabbing any deals I see.

The breakdown is like so :

Genesis/Mega Drive - 160
Sega Master - 119
NES - 57
Colecovision - 52
Playstation 2 - 32
SNES - 26
Saturn - 25
Dreamcast - 23
Sega CD - 23
Gamecube - 21

And various other systems help bring up the total.
I'd probably have more games (current-gen that is) if Canadian retailers were better at putting stuff on sale. Circuit City $4.99? Unheard of here!

As of today, I stand at 3911 games, the vast majority of which are pre-NES. Add in EM Arcade machines (Solid State's beyond my means both to fix and to buy), handhelds, standalone units (Pong, Atari Stunt Cycle), plug in Jakks like games and I'm way over 4000. I also have a lot of literature and memorabilia. I enjoy the history of games almost as much as I enjoy playing them.

I'm entering the final phase of collecting now (at least that's what I keep telling myself). I need about 20 more Atari games (across all the systems), about 75 CV games, and I'd like to get a few Neo Geo titles down the road, then my collecting days will come to an end (yeah...right x_x ) :D

I just got rid of a bunch of atari, so I stand around 1575 give or take. It hurts but I just made the final decision to get rid of more. I am giving up 16 bit and newer, I will keep Snes Genesis and peripherals and probably the Jaguar (like that system too much) but the rest will probably all go. I am going to use the money for getting an ebay store started and the rest (most of it) will go towards classic 8 bit mainly atari 5200. I don't know what I will be at then as far as number of games but it will be less.

It's funny that some newbies would come to the site and start a "rate my collection" thread, obviously most of us will give him 0/10.

My colleciton pales in comparison to many here, I finally counted and amounted to 610 with bracket numbers being my goal

Once I reach my goal I'll have about 1000, I can't think of getting any more than that, unless Nintendo comes up with next console and provides absolutely the best games on the new console or Sammy makes a consolized version of AW, else I'm pretty content with the size of my collection. Obviously the most I'll have to catch up is Gamecube, I can't think of getting complete GC collection, even the best of the 3 current systems has plenty of junks.
