View Full Version : Are 10 day auctions worth an extra 40 cents?

I can not decide. When I do 10 day auctions I time them to take place over 2 weekends, thereby getting more viewers during the peak shopping time (saturday/sunday). ----- BUT most people don't bid until the last few hours anyway, so I doubt the 10-day final price is any higher than a 7-day final price.

What do you think?

Maybe 10 day auctions are best for rare items when there's no other sellers to compete against.

It was worth it when it was 10 cents before they silently raised it to $.40.

Rare items will always get noticed. My opinion is that short period auctions are usually better. Who wants to wait 10 days after they put in their bid to see if they won the auction or not? The shorter the waiting period, the more likely people are to put a bid in.

My country used to have an on-line auction site (before it was taken over by eBay) that allowed auctions to run for up to 2 months. Now if you could place a bid on an item that runs for 5 days or for 2 months, which one will you bid on?

Yeah I suppose the 40 cents is a waste of money. I won't use it on any of my future auctions unless it's a big-ticket item ($1000 or more).

Why does ebay charge so much
when the extra 3 days has so little value?
