From what I remember, Nintendo did make replacement connectors for their Top Loader consoles, but not very many were made. I've seen them come up on eBay from time to time, and they always go for a crazy price.

What does a new pin connector in a toploader do? Nice and clear vertical lines? :)
Its not going in a top loader.

Well in that case, rob the connector from a game genie. You're not going to find a better 72-pin NES connector anywhere else, and believe me I know these things.

So you flipped the board round and removed the old connector and replaced it with the game genie one?

Short answer yeah. I'm working on a revision where I don't have to move the motherboard.

Is the game genie connector tight?

You tell me, have you ever pulled out a NES cartridge from a toaster NES and the Game Genie was left behind? That's one of the reasons I'm keeping the connector close to the entry flap, any deeper into the deck and it takes phenomenal force to rip the damn game out.
