Okay before I get burned too bad by the flaming, I want to say that I'm alright at Guitar Hero, but definately not great, in fact, I've only got a few songs on Hard. That being said, I know I'll never get anything on Expert (unless something incredible happens), but I'd like to be able to unlock everything in the store. The problem is that finishing medium won't cut it and when I try a new band, all the old stuff I unlocked is gone. Any suggestions (and don't say "try harder" because I already have).
Thanks
Mark

There might be codes that you could use to unlock everything. Other than that, you could mail me a memory card, a bottle of Jack Daniel's, and a clean bandana. I'll take care of the rest.

I don't want to use "codes" as that is cheating, I'd rather just play and earn cash and open things, perhaps some may view that a form of cheating. The Jack Daniels solution may be a viable one if it gets real tough (lol).

I actually thought some of the songs on Expert were a little easier. Then again I may have been "IN THE ZONE"! LOL! Keep practicing, you`ll get it.

Dylan's right; practice is the answer. For someone who just recently bought Guitar Hero 2, I have noticed that the more I play, the better I seem to get. Keep practicing on each difficulty level before going onto the next one, and don't be afraid to use the great practice mode to practice certain sectons of songs on harder levels. I never thought I'd be able to cut it on even Hard, but I'm doing alright. Maybe someday, I'll even be able to do a few songs on Expert (but that may take a couple more months of practice)...

Honestly I used to think that I would never ever beat a song on Hard...the first time I tried just to see what it was like I failed 4% into the song :)
I started playing like 2 months ago, borrowed it from someone and worked through all of Easy. Then I decided to try Medium. The blue notes were intimidating for some reason :)
After like two weeks I was able to beat everything through Freebird on Medium, but Hard was still well, pretty damn hard and I could only beat a few of the songs, so I went back and five starred all of the Easy and Medium songs to get in some practice.
After that I was able to move through Hard pretty quickly, up until the 7th set. Around that time I started working on and beating some of the easier Expert songs. Currently I have just beaten all the songs on Hard (5 star through the first 3 sets, 3 stars on the rest) and am in the 5th set on Expert. Just beat Expert Sweet Child o Mine for first time today to move on.
Everything about this game just takes hours of practice, but what's gotten me through a couple of the solos that are just ridiculous is to save all the star power possible for the tough section , use it when you are getting into the red and just mash away as best you can. That got me through a couple of the Hard and Expert songs that I probably still can't beat without it :P
Good luck :)

No matter what I do, I can't beat the songs on the seventh set, in Hard. I can't even last more than thirty seconds. I suck. :(

yeah if you don't wanna use codes you're gonna have to unlock things the old fashioned way, practice.
believe me (and everyone else who posted) just keep at it and you'll be jamming in no time. we were all in the same boat at one point or another and thought we'd never advance beyond a certain point.
