When I look back at my gaming and collecting days, it is easy to forget about one important gaming machine...the Commodore 64. The year was about 1987(give or take one) and I at the time did not own alot of games. Being that I was 11, my allowance per month was $5, and was usually spent on comic books and candy bars. There was hope... my neighbor up the street was rich. It seemed that every week, I would manage to go to his house and play on his computer. At the time, I did not know what computer it was, nor did I really care(at the time). I just knew that it was beige and fun to play video games on. One in particular that stood out was River Raid. I absolutely loved playing the game, and was great to have a "co-pilot" while playing the game. Me and my friend Ryan would challenge each other to see who could get farther in the game to the "big city". Luckily we had liberal time playing the machine, and enjoyed the mostly playing River Raid. I found out later that the computer was indeed a commodore. Nearly 20 years have passed since I played my first Commodore games, and I can easily say that the system is just as fun to play on today as it was in my childhood. It nearly took me two decades to chase down my Childhood memories of the system, but I can at last say that it was worth it, loading times and all.
