I have a friend who is spending some time in South Korea. Anyone know of any good places to look for old-school, specifically NES games? Primarily in the Pusan area, but any leads would be helpful. Thanks.

My understanding is that Japanese electronics were actually barred from Korea until 2002, and thus you should not expect to find anything of the sort.

Perhaps you'd care to invest in a Gamepark instead?

That's not quite true - Japanese companies weren;t allowed to operate in Japan, but they just licensed the technology to Korean companies instead - Samsung released all the Sega systems there, while Hyundai (I think) sold Nintendo systems. I know I've seen Korean NES & SNES games in the past.

I got an e-mail from him this morning and he was telling me that he had found some Korean releases of NES games and some US ones as well.

That must have been a tough situation.

Same case for the Turbografx-16, called Vistar in Korea (thanks NFG for finding this gem).

You want to be getting your hands on Samsung Saturns, Vic-A Neo Geos, Vistar PC Engines and any Super A'can games you can find.

Ah. Kudos for the clarification. (I gather nationalistic pride did little to quell the popularity of such consoles?)
