They picked an odd day to release Shadowrun.

Thing is - I haven't really heard much about it. What I've seen looks interesting, but again. It hasn't been much. All I know is that it's an MMO shooter with a little magic abilities thrown in for good measure.

I really want to get Forza 2, but Shadowrun looks equally as interesting.

What to do, what to do??

I haven't played it, but from all the videos and screenshots, it looks like a half-assed attempt at making a game for the shooter and rpg crowd. Maybe I'm wrong, but I would definitely rent before you buy with that one. With Forza 2, I'm still trying to figure out why everyone is hyped about a choppy racer with crappy handling. I know a lot of people will argue with that but my reasoning is this; you take a purpose built race car, drive around a racetrack and when you come to a very little curve, you can't take it at any more than 60 miles an hour. What gives? My brother's piece of shit car he drives back and forth to work has bad shocks, bad bearings and can still take an S-curve at 75 with no problem. Man it's been a shitty day... ranting is good therapy.

The reviews of the game seem to have been suppressed for exactly these reasons. To keep bad/mediocre reviews from hurting the sales of the game...

Yeah. I'm probably gonna go and get Forza 2, if I can get the hell away from my PC.

Besides - I already have the wheel... Might as well get the game it was designed for.

Shadowrun looks terrible. It seems like an attempt to create a game that tries to please everybody. Also, the lack of a single player campaign makes the $59.99 price feel like a rip-off.

I am so thankfull that this game blew so hard. I would auctualy have to go ot and get a X-box 360.

The above link pretty much says it all.

The above link is the trailer.......don't watch it if you love jake or that other guy from the genesis and no really :sob:

Doom Clone/Hexen/Qauke/Wolfenstiene Clone

Basically like that other game that is on the X-box. Oblivion it was again?

First I thought from the earlier screenshots that shadowrun was going to be something like PSO but in the city and much much darker but polite.

Agian the Chicago Stage, Skyrise Stage, Vista, Prking lot and in Perfect Dark N64 is probably the most closest thing to a Shadowrun stage we wil ever see in 3d.

Agian to hell with that lets all just download GTA: San Andreas, install the mulitplayer add-on, put some skin modifications in all the games along with some enemy mods, and presto instant Shadowrun game.

In fact if we could link all the GTA, Bully, and Warriors games together, install the Mulitplayer add-on, and make a whole bunch of enemy characters edits and add-ins we would have the perfect shadowrun exprience.

I guess I will have to wait until "Shin Mega Ten" MMORPG hits the deck and fail.

This game also reminds me of Command and conquer and Halo:sob:

No. They raped the Shadowrun license. Enjoy your Forza and never look back.

RugalSizzler - please allow me to quote Samuel L. Jackson from Pulp Fiction

"English, mother fucker! Do you speak it!?"

My guess is, not by any strech of the imagination. Reading one of your responses is like drilling holes into my teeth, then sticking live electrical wires on the roots.

Damn.... thats just disapointing. I was hoping that it was going to be a decently good shooter and that the PC/X360 multi would be fun. I'll probably still get it... just not going to worry about rushing out to hunt down my own copy now.

They picked an odd day to release Shadowrun.

They are focusing on the Summer ahead. They figure people who will have vacation ( kids, superhumans, teenagers, young adults, laid back waste away teachers, and jobless people ) during the summer will rush to the stores just to buy this game ( even though %99 of them probably don't know what Shadowrun is ) and even so this is most likely towards the European fan base who never really changed after they installed plumbing-_-

Actually that sounds more fun than reading another one of his posts.

I guess Im the onlyone here who is looking forward to playing shadowrun? I like FPS but I have never played counterstrike (which I hear plays alot like shadowrun) and this game looks to be a bit different from the normal FPS with magic and fantasy rpg esque characters.

I for one can give a crap if it has single player or not I mean really, alot of people buy FPS and never even touch the 1player game, and even iof they do its usualy half ass anyway (battlefield 2 anyone?)

Anyway though I cant judge it until I play it, I went to go buy it today but it was sold out and I didnt feel like driving all over to get it so now Im just gonna wait til it ships from gamefly.

First of all I want to say two things. I am tired of shooters, and crappy half brewed concepts. I think that any fan of any pen and paper shadowrun or snes, pc, or genesis video game should run far away from this. No single player is an insult to injury. Paying $59.99 for this half cooked idea is bad. Speak with your wallet and buy Forza 2, Save your money on Shadowrun and buy Halo 3, which will be much, much better. Hell, you probably will not be done with Forza by then anyways. Run, Run far away from Shadowrun.

Wow, that's a lot of hate coming from people who haven't played the game (and one beta tester, from the sounds of it). License pillaging or no, it's a fun game, and just the sort of quirky shooter I'm very fond of (last FPS I really got into was Unreal 2's online portion). Don't get me wrong though, I love the fact that people are going to senselessly hate on this game without giving it a try. It just means that I won't have to endure a bunch of shitty little mouth-breathers. I played for about two hours last night and it was 100% solid. No noticeable lag, no annoying players on either side, etc.

I'd recommend it over Forza 2, but I'm the sort of guy who'd recommend Ridge Racer 6 over Forza 2; I'm just not into racing sims. Anyone looking to buy it should hit up Circuit City, they have a deal where you get a free $19.99 game with purchase (picked up a free copy of Lego Star Wars II).

Nail on the head.

I'm a Shadowrun vet. Started pen and paper. Played and completed both the Genesis and SNES versions of the game. If FPS's aren't your cup of tea then so be it, but don't spout hyperbole like "raping the shadowrun license". If you'd rather the next Shadowrun game be an RPG, then notify FASA Interactive / Microsoft Game Studios, but don't automatically bash a game because it doesn't meet your criteria for what you'd rather have seen done.

This incarnation of Shadowrun takes the license and does excellent new things with it. The core of Shadowrun is unquestionably present in nearly every element in this game. Wetware and Magic play a vital role in your teams success. Think of it as Counter-Strike in the Shadowrun world. While I was a little disheartened to see Decker's left out in the cold (buff/debuffs anyone?) what is there is great to borderline excellent. Shadowrun picks up where games like Tribes left off.

Side note: Forza 2 is pretty awesome too.
