I recently started using the Sega Master System and NES system emulators on my computer. Now, I know you can hook up vintage controllers via a USB adapter for use with the games on PC. What I don't know is if I need to get separate controllers for the Sega and NES emulators, or can I just use an old NES controller for both emulators, and all games???

The buttons are mappable, it's a matter of personal choice.

I have a really nice adaptor that I got cheap for a PS controler and yes because emulators make you MAP your controls, you can use one controller on all your emulators (but it is best to make sure you have enough buttons).

I use my PS1 controller on PS1 emulators AND ZSNES a load, and when I feel like playing NES, SMS, or a handheld, it is also great. Personally I dont use it on ALL Genesis, SegaCD, and 32X games as some of those use all 6 buttons and you dont have a nice two rows of three on a normal PS controller, but on most games that I play the PS controller is still great.
