Talk about a rarity, I'd sell a leg for an item that rare for my CV collection.
Extremely cool, man. I love seeing this kind of stuff.

Maybe it has the removed cutscene where Dracula immolates Alucard with a flick of his finger but then Hulk Hogan and Abraham Lincoln crash into the castle in the Millenium Falcon and throw cyborg ninja vikings at him.

I'm impressed with your Sothy-esque post, bravo. Tone down the grammar and punctuation a tad, and you will almost have it perfect.
Back on topic, it's a very cool item, especially considering how popular that game and series is. You should start listing it for $2k on discount listing days.

By selecting "Normal" you play what appears to be the game as we know it. You start in the final chapter of Bloodlines but while the text in the cut scenes in English the voices are Japanese. While I didn't try it, it looks like you have the option to save and restart just as on the retail.
By selecting "special" you start further along with items in your inventory, and relics already added.

I've had a few people interested in Castlevania. One person suggested I just put it on ebay so he could make a fair bid. He was worried I would continue to raise the offers falsely.
So thats what I did. I started the bid high with the best offers option open. Should someone use the BIN it will be sold otherwise we shall see how it plays out.

When this reaches its new owner, I would like to see some in-game shots if possible of the "Special" mode where you begin with some relics/items. With a game with so many weapons surely something cool got cut that Castlevania fans collectively don't know of yet.
I hope this does bring additional copies out to sell, I'm curious how many more Castlevania fans are going to put out something in the $2,000~$4,000 range. Totally nuts.

I would think it depends on content.
Having now rooted around the E3 SOTN Demo (no, I didnt buy it) I have to say the price of admission (being $3700) was a bit steep. The game is only the Japanese version with english text, and a different game over screen essentially. It's designed to be a demo, but all the data is there, no changes from the original Japanese version. Far cry from a beta.
Not saying this isnt a very cool item, mind you.. but damn thats a lot of money for what you get..
The Dracula X PSP promo disc/UMD, considering the game isnt even out.. that would fetch a bundle for sure if you also factor in it was for sure an earlier build than retail. The PoR one, depends on the content probably. It doesnt have the noteriety of SOTN as far as popularity, comparatively.
Then again who knows, I'm just shooting from the hip on this.. they both might go for 10 grand or something =P
And to think the Bloodlines beta went for $500 years ago..

I've asked around to get a bit more info, and the save game data for the E3 version is cross compatible with the japanese version. If you have both, then you can switch between the two to pass through areas that are broken/blocked in the E3 proto (of which I believe there's only three).
Also, apparently the text doesn't display at the proper speed starting mid-way through the game, so while the voices are going, the text i s s l o w l y a p p e a r i n g.
Serial number is identical to the japanese version still too, btw.
...and there's at least two other "original" copies of this disc that were on the show floor of E3.

It sounds to me like you're assuming that the Japanese game was 100% developed before the english translation started, which is not typically true of modern-ish games.

I won't discount that point, but I will state that I have gone all around both castles and everything looks pretty much identical to the Japanese retail release. This is coming from someone who knows the game very well.
I'm not trying to discount the cool factor of the item, it's unique. Just nothing "new" in it, IE unused or beta-ish qualities.
The one nice thing to get out of it would be for someone to cobble together a true "subbed" version of SOTN (which apparently wasnt easily possible before due to reprogramming the text scripts, or what not)

I assumed it would be clear that I have the E3 Demo in a playable format, but perhaps I was being too obtuse. Anyway, yes, I have played through the E3 demo in both castles (a little cheating/ Japanese save state usage is required) and that is where I draw my conclusions.
If someone finds a small or interesting item laying about the castle that I missed, or something neat then that is cool. I guess my point here is that really nothing significant is different, unlike the Bloodlines beta from a few years ago.

It's a Konami game. They're notorious for their sloppy, evil coding. If you feel suicidal, go for it. Otherwise...

Yes, I remember seeing an Ebay auction for a CV:Bloodlines prototype, but the seller didn't have too many pics of what was different from the released version.
What was different about the Bloodlines proto?

As far as I know the levels were different than the final.
Arasoi

The Bloodlines proto (really a Castlevania: New Generation proto technically) had as Icarus had mentioned some diferences in the level.
In one level there was a blimp with a swastika on it, and a room that had molten metal in it, and platforms. That's all I can recall off the top of my head.
The owner of both known beta carts occasionally browses these forums and at one point had offered to take some video of the different stages on the working cart (one doesnt), but I haven't seen him around for about a year. He of course won't dump it, it would decrease the item's value. Ah well.

Had a different boss for one of the stages.
It went for $500-$600 and at the time I thought that was too much for a released Genesis game so I didn't bid or didn't bid to win (I forget). Anyway so did many others. Ohh how things change....
