I'm heading to Des Moine, Iowa next weekend. Wondering if
there are any good thrifts, retro game stores etc...
Thanks

hey - i've spent a fair amount of time in des moines.
there are two stores called gamers. one on s.e. 14th and one in west des moines on university ave. i almost always find decent stuff at this store, lots of times some semi-rare guides. some stuff can be a little pricey, but they just dropped prices on n64, snes and nes games. also, if you buy a t-shirt/hat, whenever you buy from them you will get 10% off.
there are also 2-3 decent pawn shops on se 14th. one right next to the gamers store (mister money), the other is a few blocks north of it.
also, there is a sort of hidden store behind the Culver's and Sonic Restaurant. it is behind those stores, by a goodwill i think. can't rememer the name of it, but you might have to look for that one a bit. it is usually pretty sparse but i did find a loose chavez ii for 5 bucks there once.
lastly, there are a few more pawn shops on army post between fleur and se 14th. these pretty much suck though and are probably going to just be a waste of time.
that's what i've found in my time in that area! last thing to remember, pawn shops in iowa aren't open on sundays! have fun and feel free to drop me a message --- i'd like to hear about your finds!
