Saw one for the first time today, and my first reaction was GOTTA HAVE ONE! Then i realized that the lighting on it, really wasnt that great, or was it that i was just seeing it in a bad way? It was a store display at the EB games, guess that could have affected it. Anyway, bascially what im asking is, it that much improved over there other one in the lighthing sense? I have the original, but damn if i almost didnt go blind straining my eyes, playing Castlevania Circle of the Moon, that pretty much why i lost interest in it. But temptation is gettin me....... =)

I REALLY LIKE the light. I thought I had a good light on my gba, and never really had any complaints with not being able to see, but when I play the same games on the sp, I notice a TON of stuff I never noticed before.

I played Circle of the Moon for two hours straight, sitting in the park, at 11:00pm the other night on my SP and my eyes were fine. (heh....I wasn't ready to go home and had no one to hang out with that night. Seemed like a good time to get started on CotM).

I'd rather buy an afterburner and have it installed professionally on my regular GBA. 90 bucks is not worth the new gba. it cant play kirby tilt and tumble!!!
and plus, it doesnt have a headphones jack.
does the new SP have a DC plugin in it?

The light during the day is very subdued. Play it in the dark, and you'll see the difference instantly.
It'll play CotM perfectly, I'd even say better than the GBA + Afterburner.

I love the SP! I got a blue one and I don't regret it! I finally got to play Metroid Fusion after all these months of wait (after the SP was announced, I decided to wait instead of just replacing my lost GBA). And the light does work wonders in dark settings, but you can't see the difference in broad daylight (I usually have to cover my SP with my hand to see whether the light is on or off during the day).
Oh, and the battery lasts really, really long.

I love the light. If you don't have a lot of money to spend you aren't missing out on too much but if you have the cash, buy one. :/

are they gonna make a new e-reader too?

No need for that. The e-reader works just fine (yes, it does work when you plug it in the cartridge port... the link port was a pass-thru to give access to it on the first GBA).
