instead of trying to complete with inventive, genreredefining games like HALO, and HALF-LIFE, the developers of serious sam decided to kick it old-school and hearken back to the bygone glory days of firstperson shooting. i guess they succeded in some odd way. if you can call a game that feels like a fan-made DOOM2 mod a susuccess. there's a reason games aren't like this anymore- simply shooting stupid enemies with big guns over and over isn't compelling at all. i ws lulled into a comatose state after playing about six stages of serious sam ; making it through another 10 had me flatlining. i am willing to belive that there are gamers out there who will dig the doom throwback gameplay, but no one should have to put up with pixelated textures plague nearly every level. the music, sound affects and voices sound like amateurs recorded them at some open mic night!.....i give this game a 3.5 not good

I liked the game personally. It reminds me of Doom and Duke Nukem. There are a lot of realistic shooters out there, but this one is just wild and zaney fun. Whats wrong with running around shooting a billion guys? Thats what made doom a success. I like how the game spawns guys behind you, infront of you, and all around you. And besides, it is only 20 bucks sealed for the Xbox, how could you lose?
I disagree, I think if you are looking for a hectic FPS, this is for you.

One thing I wish they would have made clear though is that yes the game can be multiplayer (more then 2) BUT you have to own 2 copies of the game (and 2 xbox of course).

I'm mostly familiar with the PC version, so it may be slightly less impressive on the Xbox, but damn, this game looks great! The graphics intentionally departed from the hyperrealism being attempted by everything else, and flow beautifully with their wonderful (original) engine. The old-school throwback is expanded upon with the addition of an ability to display literally hundreds of enemies at once with this powerhouse engine... There's a few scenes that left me in awe after seeing just how many things were flying at me... but, well, each to his own, of course.
