This is not a NEW article so please no flaming in the way of DAMN THIS IS SOOO OOOOLDZZZ OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT PLEASE.

from Hideo Kojima himself.

On the Metal Gear franchise and MGS4:

This year marks the 20th anniversary of Metal Gear. 20 years. It's a long time to be making the same game. So I ask him if he's surprised that he's still churning out Metal Gear games this far down the line. "I'm very surprised", he says. "Twenty years ago when I created my first one, I thought it'd just be over. To be more extreme, I didn't think the fist one would sell at all!".
Oh, but sell they did.
Since Metal Gear Solid (http://www.kotaku.com/gaming/metal-gear-solid/) 4 has come up, I do the polite thing and ask how it's coming along. "Its almost at the 'shooting stage' of creating a movie", Kojima says. "All the design and scenarios are finished, we're just completing the actual game".On RUMBLE:

With rumble having been a key aspect of the series thus far, I ask him his thoughts on the issue now that Sony and Immersion have made kissy-kissy. "I want to use rumble, yes", he says, "but it's a race against time. If it can make it in in time I'd like to use it, yes." On the difference between the PS3/Xbox360 and Wii:

I remind him of a comment he made last year comparing each of the three current consoles to "different kinds of dinner". Did he still think that was the case, now that all three are on the market? Nope. "They're more like a movie theatre metaphor", he says. "The PS3 is like the theatre, it's a little bit high-priced but it has to be high quality as well. The 360 is a DVD, it still needs to be high quality but you need more variations, while the Wii is almost like a TV channel, because every game you have it with your family".
On if he would be involved in future Metal Gear games and to what capacity:

on MGS4, I ask whether this really is the end. He's said repeatedly he wants to walk away at the end of this game, and the trailers seem to show everyone from the series getting together for one final shootout. So when MGS4 hits, will you hang up your boots? "Well, atually its really up to the users, its up to them to decide", he offers. "If users want more Metal Gear, then I will probably step up as producer, like the James Bond series does", he says. "That way I can have new, upcoming directors making MGS while I oversee the project, and then perhaps I can move onto something new".
On Metal Gear Solid 4 going multiplatform:

So, Devil May Cry 4, going multiplatform. Thoughts? Comments? "I think it's up to each project, and the individual producer", he says. "If they want to take it multiplatform, they will". I'm going somewhere with this question, and he knows exactly where that is... "But like I said, MGS4 is aimed for the movie theatre, it's aimed for the PS3, so the game's scenario and graphics need this theatre-type hardware. It's when a producer has a game that can work on the 'DVD level' that a game will go multiplatform", he says. Sorry kids. Your "OMGMGS4360" banners will have to come out another day.
Since we've opened up this can of worms, I may as well get his thoughts on it. Why, I ask, do you think this rumour simply refuses to go away? "Because 360 owners want it on 360, obviously", he quips.

I don't think it's ultimately up to him whether MGS4 comes to 360 or not. I mean, I'm pretty sure it wasn't Kojima's decision for MGS2 to be ported to Xbox. His team may only be developing for PS3, but it'll be Konami's property, and if they see fit to have KCE Nagoya or whatever port it to 360, they will.

Yes I think there is still the full possibility of an eventual 360 port when? who the hell knows.

I also agree that Kojima wasnt exactly enthusiastic about the MGS2 port to the Xbox in fact I remember him basically bitching about it more than anything in many of the articles and interviews about the port after it was announced to be on Xbox.

I'm surprised that people still think that MGS4 is coming to 360. In a 16 DVD box set. I like Kojima's "theatre/DVD/TV" analogy, which is similar to how I see this generation -- each system has its niche.

No way will MGS4 require as much space as 16 dual-layer DVDs. Even with new formats, game sizes just don't jump that much. For MGS4 to be that big, it would not only be larger than any game before it, but by a ridiculous margin.

I didn't use the number 16 seriously. There was a thread sometime earlier that said it would have to be on several DVD's, though. I'm pretty sure the number was greater than 4.

I know, I've heard it mentioned many times before. It's a bunch of crap though. I would be extremely surprised if MGS4 couldn't be done on two DVDs. And if I had to wager, I'd say that it could probably be done on a single disc.

I disagree i think it would be at least 2 dvd's if not more, especially with the fact of the cut screens and other games on the 360 will have taken at least 2 dvd's such as Blue Dragon, I definitely see though MGS 4 being at least on 2 if not 3-4 dvd's if it's on the 360

I don't think MGS4 is going to use pre-recorded cutscenes (FMVs) though. The series has always done cutscenes using the in-game engine. Which requires a lot less space.

Possibly, possibly not, as far as his own personal control over the project's platform goes. MGS2 was under the Konami name (specifically, KCEJ). This time, it's under the developer name "Kojima Productions". I would assume that, even though it's still a Konami subsidiary, Kojima might have more control over where the game goes than he did in the past. I could be completely wrong, though.

Let's also not forget that Substance sold very poorly on the Xbox, which was the reason that Subsistence was only for the PS2.

Who knows, though? I don't care, that much. I'd prefer it to be a PS3 exclusive, but if the 360 gets it, too, all that means is more people get to play the game.

You may have a good point there.

remember that NO version of Metal Gear Solid 3:Snake eater or Subsistence was released for any console other than Playstation 2 and im sure thats how Kojima wanted it.

Also , if I remember correctly MGS3 was the first major game under the new KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS banner and Kojima made damn sure that MGS3 was a PS2 exclusive for whatever reasons be it lower sales on the Xbox or his own personal preference etc.

Substance did sell pretty poorly on Xbox. But 360 has a much larger market share than Xbox did, and PS3's is much smaller than PS2's. So I'd say it's a pretty different consideration.

But only time will tell, I guess.
