As of right now I only need two more games (Adventure, Dig Dug) to have every Atari game that I'm sure is awesome. What are some games that are great but I probably haven't heard of?

Also, can you play Pole Position with a paddle controller? It seems really awkward playing with a joystick. I'd try it but my paddle controllers are at a friend's house right now.

The thread below might help you find some great 2600 you haven't played yet. You probably already know most of them, but some of them like Solaris aren't that well known.

It's hard to say, since whenever I discuss Atari 2600 games with people, it seems like everyone's already heard of everything.

But I'll throw out a recommendation for Star Voyager.

I would suggest Solar Fox, or Turmoil. Great fun and challenging gameplay as the levels progress.

I was always a fan of Beamrider, Starmaster, Robot Tank, Gyruss, Turmoil, and Snoopy vs the Red Baron.

Get yourself a Starpath/Arcadia Supercharger, and get some games for it. Most of the Supercharger titles are pretty good. My favorite is Escape From The Mindmaster (my favorite 2600 game in general), which is a 3D mazecrawl with you locating pegs to go into pegholes, playing mini-games, and avoiding monsters. Survival Island is a lot bigger than you probably think an Atari 2600 game should be. Dragonstomper is a good little early RPG. The Starpath version of Frogger is far superior to the Parker Bros. version.

Other interesting games:
Desert Falcon
Wizard of Wor (best with two players)
Secret Quest
Pitfall II
Gravitar
Solaris

Easy.. fork out a couple of bucks and get the recent homebrews. Amazing games really.

Marble Craze (2 paddles, "labrynth" style gameplay, awesome soundtrack, and mazes from memory lane (I dug the Adventure and Space Invaders mazes).
Crazy Balloon - Amazing port of the arcade version
Lady Bug - Just as good if not better than the Colecovision version
Medieval Mayhem (aka Warlords.. but with more of the arcade elements such as multiple balls, and of course, the dragon)

This is just the top of my head.. there are a lot more good ones.

Do you have the Swordquest games? (Fireworld, Waterworld, Earthworld)

Some others:

Lancelot was good for 2600 and it seems obscure. It is similar to Joust but there's more to it. I liked it best on Atari than Coleco.

Smurf's Rescue is another one I liked, that I thought was definately better than the Coleco one, I liked the faster pace of the game.

I highly recommend a homebrew available at www.atariage.com called Swoops. Good party games.

Also, Ram It is a good rarity. The difficulty doesn't ramp up properly, but overall, it's a fun game. I actually recall liking Demolition Herby too.

Obvious choices: Indy 500, Kaboom, Warlords.

You probably won't believe this, but my Dad (Who grew up with Atari) has never heard of Adventure until I bought it!

Anyway, I'd suggest Jr. Pac-Man (The little known 3rd Pac-Man game on Atari. It feels more true to the Arcade version then the first, but it is rare, unfortunatly)

Well, Adventure is on the list of "games that should be really easy to find but I have never ever seen"

+ Defender, I still need that one.

Frankenstein's Monster. You'll probably need eBay for that one, but well worth it.

You probably know about it, But Halloween is very good. It's also very hard to find. The last complete, Working copy on ebay went for $288 shipped.

Pressure cooker is one I like a lot too (one of my faves on the GBA version of Activision Anthology). It's simple yet addictive.

Circus Atari is really, really fun. Definitely recommended. Not rare at all, but doesn't show up on a lot of "favorites" lists.

I always enjoyed Ghost Manor. It's a little weird, but the graphics are fantastic and it has a kind of quirky charm. I've played through it dozens and dozens of times.

Demon Attack is probably my favorite 2600 game (at least today). It's super common, but a lot of fun.

most people probably heard of most of these because I haven't played many 2600 games but there are the most entertaining for me :

Atlantis, Cosmic Ark, Crystal Castles, Centipede, Dig Dug, Dolphin, Laser Gates, Obelix, Seaquest

2 player
Double Dragon, Joust, Mario Bros., Quickstep, Space Invaders

One rather obscure (although maybe not around here, but in general) title I always liked was Krull. Based on the fabulously cheesy film of the same name, it actually manages to follow the story pretty well and I have always thought any Atari game with a story period is kinda impressive.

My number one video game five-minute filler of all time is Stampede by Activison. Again, maybe not that obscure but certainly overlooked by many.

Oh, also "Name This Game" by US Games is one of my favorites. You're a scuba diver swimming back and forth along the bottom of the screen, shooting a giant octopus's tentacles coming down at you, and a shark that slowly descends back and forth. All the while you have to keep an eye on your air and periodically refill via the air line dropped by a boat. It's a pretty cool game. They had a contest to determine the actual name of the game, but I don't know whether or not it ever took place.
